Helping enterprises discover truth in their business processes | Co-founder and CEO of Skan

A friend of mine, who lives near me in Dallas, is responsible for 50 software engineers, and is getting busier by the day. When I asked him if he was taking on more team members, he said “no, I don’t need to”. In fact, he told me explicitly, “I’m not going to hire more people. I’ve told my team, ‘think of ChatGPT as your interns and consider how it can help you scale your capabilities’.” I was reminded of this conversation, when I posted this week about how our roles will become more like Quality Assurance - and this is a living example of how this trend is playing out. Today, experienced developers and team leaders have the assistance of interns and junior developers to help with the more laborious work. Now, that can be completed at scale using gen AI. And this is only the beginning. You may worry about the prospects of the talented would-be developers, but they will no longer need the full attention of their managers to grasp necessary software skills. Because AI can help with that too! This means the manager can support with more valuable tasks, such as guiding them in their careers and providing mentorship. Clearly there is more to this anecdote and not all challenges will be, or should be, solved by ChatGPT. But it makes an important point about how we consider what were previously sacred cows, are open to new approaches - all enabled by harnessing AI.

Recent slash data research Report (https://www.slashdata.co/post/59-of-developers-use-ai-tools-25-2m-javascript-users) suggests as many as 59% of programmers worldwide are using ChatGPT to get the basic code in place.. and then take it from there. This does not bode well for entry level programmers.. does it mean no future for programmers? AU contraire UC Berkeley reports 48% increase of applications for computer science. So what’s the story here.. you still need the foundational skills.. but the focus needs to on programming with AI tools for conventional applications and more into programming using LLMs.. for apps like assistants. That will probably make the entry level programmers hireable.

I would add AI agents for each role to augment them. I'm trying for myself first.

Why don’t you report back on this decision in 6 months. Let us know if gen ai is a replacement for deep skills delta training and, if the intern model supported this well… that would be interesting for sho. If not we are here to catch him in case of a freefall.. outsourcing the project is still very budget-wise really… I think my approach would be to add to the team and let the cream rise…. Net new skilling takes a while. We have a training institute that supports our farming model and it’s a commitment fo sho…. Good post Avinash… THX!

Avinash Misra has a great perspective. Humans have been using tools to improve their work for a long time. While the pace may be accelerating, it is no different than before. The key is enabling our workforce to maximize their effectiveness with the new tools and improving the man and machine productivity. Skan.ai can help drive these interactions and improve upon existing processes and methods.

I am certainly looking for GenAI to master PowerPoint skills 🙂

Well stated, and an I credible opportunity to multiply our team productivity
