We applaud our Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Karen S. Amstutz, for a great panel discussion during #AHIP2024 on the benefits of forging strong and collaborative relationships between payers and medical professionals. Dr. Amstutz, along with fellow panelists Dr. Laurel C. Soot, Chief Medical Officer, Providence Health Plan, center, and Josephine Opong-Vaughn, Vice President, Avera Health Plans, left, shared best practices about navigating the complex regulatory environment and aligning incentives to achieve common goals, especially the ultimate goal to improve patient outcomes.

The emotional well-being of our associates and the communities we serve is the focus of a campaign we launched today in support of #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. “Culture, Community and Mental Health Care” will highlight how cultural differences, community factors, and access to mental health services can affect a person’s perceptions and response to emotional health issues. Through a series of special programs and learning courses, associates will learn from wellness experts about self-care and how to identify and support the mental health struggles of others. Program topics include the culture of poverty, gender-affirming mental health care, and mental health in the community. #BehavioralHealth #EmotionalHealth #SelfCare

The challenges of ensuring patients take prescribed medications was the topic of a recent Artcraft Health podcast that featured one of our pharmacy leaders, Andrew Maiorini, Vice President of Clinical Programs at PerformRx, part of AmeriHealth Caritas. The episode is the fourth in a series called “Conversations that Impact Outcomes,” during which host Lisa Moss Calderwood interviews medical experts on ways to improve health outcomes through educational efforts that can help transform patient behaviors.
