Nearly 2 billion people worldwide lack access to essential medicines like insulin, antibiotics and painkillers. This leads to preventable deaths, worsened chronic conditions and increased suffering. These essential medicines are vital for treating infections and alleviating pain, making them crucial for overall health. With our Medicine Security Program, #Americares addresses this crisis by distributing critical medicines and supplies to hospitals and clinics to over 85 countries. In 2022 alone, we supported 14.7 million prescriptions globally. By ensuring medicine security, we save lives and strengthen health systems. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/e5BAry97

AMR is an issue that needs to be understood by all. We are headed for a world where there will be doctors, hospitals and medicines - but the medicines may not work leading to deterioration of health or a fatality. There are health conditions where antibiotics are unavoidable. For ailments that can be cured naturally we must seek to do so. https://lnkd.in/dzScgqz3 #TulsiShakti #AMR #antibioticresistance #antibiotics #health #healthcare

presenter at CAUTHE 2017 (Uni. Otago, NZ) and SIG symposium (Uni SA) on the sharing economy and Aboriginal people.
I have asked this question of the ABC’s Q+A. Wish me luck. It could save lives. 'When the pandemic hit in early 2020 Aboriginal members of my family living in Arnhem land realised they had little protection. Social distancing and hand hygiene are standard non-pharmaceutical recommendations for reducing transmission. But I knew that both would be difficult to achieve. Housing was often crowded; at times there were upwards of a dozen people living in my home. Furthermore, many did not have regular access to soap. However, Aboriginal people know and trust traditional soap plants, using them as cleansers and for treating skin disorders. Soap plants contain soap-like substances, saponins, that have anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties, and there is much literature on their use in treating all sorts of diseases. But there was none on their topical use. After checking with a pharmacist friend I suggested my relatives begin using soap plants for hand hygiene. But there was nothing on the role soap plants could play in inhibiting the spread of COVID-19, until 2021 when a paper by two South African academics appeared: 'Checklist of African Soapy Saponin – Rich Plants for Possible Use in Communities’ Response to Global Pandemics’ (Kunatsa & Katerere). Another paper appeared in 2023 on the effectiveness of saponins as nasal swabs and gargles in protecting against COVID-19 (Navaneeth et al., 2023). Yet there was no interest from academics or authorities. Indeed the only person interested was my nephew, Darryle Barnes, a Barkindji man and team leader in Aboriginal Health in South Australia’s Riverland. Darryle and his nursing staff were interested in establishing a soap plant garden. But I couldn’t advise them on what plants to use because except in the Northern Territory there is no information. Hygiene plays a role in mitigating the spread of trachoma and rheumatic fever. Perhaps so plants could help control these diseases. And yet in Australia of all places, there is no research. Why?'

Eosinophilic Oesophagitis (EoE) has seen a surge in cases globally, challenging both patients and our healthcare infrastructures. A recent case-control study from Denmark has provided significant insights into potential risk factors. The study underscores the association between maternal and infant use of antibiotics and acid suppressants and the heightened risk of developing EoE. How can healthcare professionals better integrate such findings into our practices? Your thoughts and experiences are valued, please share! https://lnkd.in/ecdk4bx8 #EosinophilicOesophagitis #ClinicalResearch #MedicationRisks #HealthcarePractices

Silent Killer Healthcare System “Outperforming” most other EU countries on paper via underreporting culture, in reality driving locals to foreign countries for dear life and disability care "On paper, many Romanian hospitals appear to be in excellent condition, yet it’s clear that underreporting is a major cause of hospital-acquired illnesses. Management of hospitals with high rates of nosocomial infections are penalized, therefore they are incentivized to conceal them. Recently, the manager of the nation’s leading hospital for lung diseases has even stated that declaring nosocomial infections is “perceived as a punishment” by the medical staff. Go figure. Is Romania learning from its mistakes? Years after the Collective fire tragedy and deaths of survivors due to hospital-acquired infections, nosocomial infections continue to contribute significantly to mortality rates in a system devoid of antimicrobial resistance laws and regulations, as well as a clear surveillance and reporting system. The Covid pandemic proved as much. Romanian officials documented zero incidences of hospital infections among Covid-19 patients since the start of the pandemic. A ludicrous claim. According to European research, even countries with far superior medical systems have registered healthcare-associated infections among COVID-19 patients. So all of a sudden Romania would have “outperformed” most other EU countries…?"

Doctors Have the Highest Mortality Rate from Covid-19: Doctors Have the Highest Mortality Rate from Covid-19. What are the ways to decrease it? The outbreak of the Novel Corona Virus (Covid-19) has badly affected people globally. It has been observed that doctors, health care workers, and paramedics are at a greater risk to get attack of Corona virus. Multiple factors contribute to the higher mortality rate among doctors. Few factors have been considered as the major cause of the higher mortality rate among paramedics and doctors. * Slight carelessness lead the doctors toward the severe attack by the corona virus. * Lack of training to deal with SARS Corona Virus-19. * Shortage of medical equipment and safety suits to deal with the emerging patients of Covid-19. * It has been observed that the doctors of 50+ age are affecting more rapidly than the young ones. Ways to Reduce the Mortality Rate Among the Doctors and Paramedics: To protect the lives and reduce the mortality rate among doctors globally, it is important to implement such SOPS so doctors stay safe in hospitals especially while treating corona patients. The health care authorities developed a series of measures globally to reduce the ratio of mortality among doctors. Following are some initiatives taken by the authorities to bring the mortality ratio to a minimal level. * It has been decided to ensure the audit of deaths of health care workers and doctors so the authorities can keenly observe the criticality of the disease among the doctors. Moreover, the authorities can look upon the reasons that pushed the doctors towards death. * Proper training should be provided to the doctors to let them know and educate them about the severity and the complexities of the disease to deal with the complications of the Nobel Corona Virus. * Safety Kits and suits should be provided to the doctors. The authorities will keep a check and balance over the availability of these safety kits to the doctors to protect themselves from the fatal virus. * A policy should be practiced in which the older aged doctors should not treat the Covid-19 patients; instead, the patients should be looked after and treated by young doctors or those below 50years. * Those doctors should not treat Covid-19 patients who have a weak immune system or lack immunity. Or those doctors whose lungs are already infected with any other virus. * A proper plan should be formulated to keep an eye on the doctors’ mortality rate and keenly observe the causes of deaths among doctor. Therefore, it is essential to take precautions future accordingly to avoid the mortality rate among the doctors for the same reason. * The front-line health workers and the doctors should be vaccinated first against the Covid-19 Virus to treat the covid patients in a better way. * The health care authorities should… #healthcarenews #DoctorsBusinessNetwork #medicalnews
