Iain Anderson FRSA helping to carve deeper engagement between Business and (our likely next) Government. The Review has asked the following core questions: Labour has already announced a number of structures for engaging with business if it were to form the next government. What do you think is critical to make these work effectively? Are additional groups or structures needed? How do you think Keir Starmer’s focus on Mission-led Government should shape the way in which Labour structures its relations with business if it were to form the next government? How can business relations be embedded across all of government reflecting the cross-government nature of the missions? What in your experience of business and Government relations works most effectively and what approaches do not work well or create barriers to effective relationships? How does this differ for policy development, investment and commercial transactions? How could a future Labour Government best reflect its pro-worker, pro-business agenda? How do we ensure small and large businesses can both have a voice with government? What can we learn from international best practice? #tvcc

Hear from Andy Mison, President of ASPA, sharing with us some informative views on several critical issues within the Australian education sector: https://hubs.li/Q02q_QQQ0 Our CEO David Riordan put to Andy the following six questions: • What are the implications of the national teacher shortage and what are some possible solutions? • There has been a lot of media across the nation focussing on the cost of sending children to public schools. As President of ASPA could you please let us know your views on this current debate? • The biggest issue facing most Australians at the moment is the ‘cost of living’. How do you think the cost-of-living pressures are impacting on students in public schools nationally? • The Federal Government will be releasing its pre-election budget on 14 May 2024. What would ASPA like to see in that budget? • What do see as being the major education issues that could become a focus in the lead up to the next Federal Election? A huge thanks to Andy for providing us with this perspective.

🤔 💡 What is the future of English devolution? Reform was delighted to host an in-conversation with Mayor Andy Burnham of Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and Laura Shoaf, CBE, Chief Executive of West Midlands Combined Authority to discuss the potential of trailblazer deals and combined authorities. It was fantastic to hear perspectives from two combined authorities, with fascinating insights including: - Scrapping HS2 will create a setback for the cause of major infrastructure 🚄 - The Whitehall system creates difficulties with pushing forward infrastructure 🏛 - Place-based projects work and are long termist 🌱 - Contaminated blood scandal shows the terrible dysfunction of Whitehall ❌ - Openness is the key ingredient to the success of trailblazer negotiations 🔥 - A single settlement would enable local government to add 2 and 2 and get 5 💰 👉 Watch the full panel here and join the conversation: https://lnkd.in/eTtjuDqb

😲 Just listened to this short interview of Paul Dans from the Heritage Foundation with Steve Bannon, explaining their "Project 2025" transition plan, preparing for a "conservative" (read: far-right) victory in the US elections in November 2024, so in a bit more than a year. 💥 It's a chilling account of how to achieve authoritarian state capture. It reminds me of Orbán's methods in Hungary: Changing the Constitution, dismantling the judiciary, restricting media freedom, destroying independent government bodies, and most importantly, replacing all civil servants with your "own". They are very much preparing for a brutal "takeover". And we cannot say that we didn't know: It's out there, for all of us to read: https://lnkd.in/ecWqbnFh Two more things that strike me: ✊ The American far-right is organised and united. Over 80 conservative groups joined this "Project 2025", setting aside their differences. Progressives should learn from that: You will never win an election if you keep bickering among yourselves. ✏ They have understood the value of staff and training. They offer courses, capacity-building and focus on recruitment over a year before the election. Investing in the people is smart - progressives should learn from that. 📝 Here is their policy programme in full length for those who want to see what to expect should Trump or any other far-right candidate win (which, unfortunately, is a rather likely scenario): https://lnkd.in/ePT2V4D9) 📺 And the interview: https://lnkd.in/etJpFUGD

Our overarching vision for our Public Engagement portfolio strategy is a world where peace and freedom endure, driven by narratives, policies, and norms shaped by those with lived experiences of conflict, exploitation, and injustice. We drive that long-term vision forward by creating an enabling environment for systemic reforms that advance peace and freedom, led by those most affected by these issues. 🌍 Read our Public Engagement strategy: https://bit.ly/3UYmhzP
