Great news for those interested in the hospitality industry! According to a recent survey, about 80% of hotels are experiencing staffing shortages and are now offering fantastic incentives to attract new hires. Hotels all over the country are looking for people to join their teams. They need help in all sorts of roles, from housekeeping to management. The best part? They're willing to make it worth your while. Many hotels are increasing wages, offering more flexible hours, and even expanding benefits to attract potential employees. This means there are nearly 100,000 job openings in hotels nationwide. And guess what? The average wage in the hotel industry is now more than $23.50 per hour. That's an increase of 25% since the pandemic. In fact, hotel wages have been growing 47% faster than wages in the general economy. But that's not all. The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) is also lobbying Congress to expand programs that could help hotels fill their open positions. They're advocating for changes to the H-2B visa program, which helps hotels in remote vacation destinations hire seasonal workers. They're also supporting legislation that would allow asylum seekers to work sooner after applying for asylum. So, if you're thinking about a career in hospitality, now is a great time to jump in. With high demand, great incentives, and opportunities for growth, there's never been a better time to join the hotel industry. #HospitalityJobs #NowHiring #CareerOpportunities #JobSearch #HotelIndustry #HospitalityIndustry #JobAlert #Hospitality #CareerInHospitality #JobOpening #Hotels #TravelAndTourism

Article of the Week : UAE HOTELS GEAR UP FOR PEAK SEASON WITH EARLY PART-TIME HIRES The UAE's hotel industry is entering its busy season, prompting early hiring through short-term contracts to meet increased demand for experienced staff and higher pay. This proactive approach, unlike previous years, anticipates peak periods like the COP28 summit, F1 Abu Dhabi, and Dubai Airshow. Traditionally, part-time staff is hired during the high season, but this year's recruitment started early to prevent shortages. November and December bookings, tied to major events, indicate occupancy rates of 80-90%, expected to rise. Rixos Bab Al Bahr Hotel's Intiaj Mondal adjusted workforce strategy by outsourcing and hiring part-time staff, aligning with monthly forecasts and budget considerations. Part-time recruitment, notably for events like COP28, has increased, according to Nikhil Nanda, Director of Innovations Group. Hotels are actively recruiting short-term contract workers for both leisure and business travelers. Grand Plaza Movenpick Media City's Savio D’souza explores hiring part-time employees for back-of-house roles to enhance operational efficiency in Q4 and Q1. While overall recruitment has increased, full-time hiring for the busy season remains stable. Hoteliers strategically avoid hiring-and-firing challenges during the low season, showcasing a thoughtful workforce management approach. SOURCE: GULF NEWS

´´While employment in this country is at its lowest level since March 2021, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics finds that employment in leisure and hospitality is 1.7 percent lower now than it was in February of 2020, before the pandemic. That’s a lack of 290,000 people, but the disparity deepens when you consider the number of hotels and resorts in the U.S. continues to grow at a fast pace. The industry has a need to fill 1.23 million jobs, with the majority of unfilled job openings in accommodations and food services. Back in June, an American Hotels & Lodging Association survey found that over 80 percent of hotels were struggling hiring staff. ´´ Ok, here it comes again.....
