NEW BLOG POST! Over the years, we’ve worked with incredible Leadership Development Program participants. This three-month internship program draws people from all walks of life. We’ve supported undergraduate students just entering the workforce, late-career professionals switching fields, and everything in between. Our 200+ alumni share one thing in common: their commitment to human rights. They've gone on to pursue careers in anti-trafficking and parallel issue areas, including immigration and housing. They’ve gotten jobs with the government, nonprofits, and universities or schools. We recently caught up with three former Leadership Development Program participants. Read our new blog post to learn what they gained from their internship and where their careers have taken them since: https://lnkd.in/gH6YadjF #EndTraffickingColorado #SocialJustice #HumanRightsLeader #HumanTraffickingAwareness #HumanRights #Internship #LeadershipDevelopment #ColoradoNonprofit

My son got a paid internship at a large corporation and now a new series 🎬 (that’s what we jokingly call everyone’s external stories) “Son’s Hybrid Office” has appeared at home. And do you know what is the most entertaining thing about this series? I hear a lot from colleagues across companies and industries about Junior and Gen Z, and now I hear about “them” from Junior/ Gen Z. Now I have feedback from youth in the workspace. They're different, it's true! You know why? Because we ourselves raised them to be different, not like us... I'm wondering what the result of our efforts will be and I'm also learning a lot from them (my son)... #newgeneration #genz #teams #awareness #leaderships

Throughout this fall semester, I accomplished many goals. I learned and created impact by continuing to be a Bonner Intern, expanding the One Love Foundation on campus, and working on my Bonner Capstone. Starting as a Bonner Intern, I took charge of Bonner's Summer of Service and led the first-year class as they transitioned from high school. I created new relationships with the first-year and developed a workshop that led Bonners to search for their summer internships. Taking leadership, facilitating meetings, and being a resource for the program expanded my knowledge in administration and management. While these are only a few things I partook in, these two roles were the most significant as a Senior Intern. I successfully led a workshop with the One Love Foundation, demonstrating the signs of unhealthy relationships. With my team, we decided to show Road Trip, a short film presenting the idea of masculinity and how it can impact a relationship. Several students learned at least one new thing from the event by providing resource cards, bracelets, and worksheets. I plan to continue hosting workshops in the spring as it makes a difference within the Allegheny community. Moving along to my Bonner Capstone, similar to the One Love Foundation, I can advocate for unhealthy relationships on campus. By providing the resources on campus and improving the relationship with Meadville's Women's Services, more students will have the knowledge and resources if ever in need. Partnering up with another Bonner makes this process more accessible as we advocate for change and improvement so students can access those resources. The timeline may have been the most challenging, but much has been completed, making it more reassuring. These are small accomplishments I made throughout this Fall Semester. In the spring, I have new goals to improve and expand in all three areas. I can't wait to see what's to come! Thank you to all who helped me achieve my goals along the way.

5 Valuable Lessons from 'The Pursuit of Happyness' I recently came across a clip from the movie 'The Pursuit of Happyness', which prompted me to watch this inspiring film once again. The movie is more than just a biographical drama - it's a masterclass in resilience and determination. Here are 5 key lessons I took from Chris Gardner's inspiring story: Resilience; Chris's unwavering determination in the face of adversity is a powerful reminder to stay committed to our goals, no matter the obstacles. Invest in personal growth; Chris's decision to intern at Dean Witter without a salary demonstrates the importance of gaining experience and building relationships in our chosen field. Foster Emotional Intelligence and Empathy; The firm's willingness to give Chris a chance, despite his unconventional background, highlights the value of emotional intelligence and empathy in building strong relationships. Embrace diversity and Inclusion; Dean Witter's internship program showcases the power of a diverse and inclusive work environment, where unique strengths and skills are valued and supported. Strive for Excellence; Chris's journey teaches us to take pride in our work and strive for excellence in all we do.

*INTERN VIDEO CHALLENGE – Video 1* Like many of you, we have interns working with us at Roberts & Ryan this summer. It’s important to us that it’s a mutually beneficial relationship – we get some work out of them and they learn in the process! ✅ We do our best to give them as much exposure to different parts of the business as possible. They work with our fixed income and equity teams, help with our corporate access efforts, and spend time on the NYSE trading floor. ✅ We thought it would be fun to have them break into teams and make videos about the firm. The idea being that it will be a catalyst for them to take a deeper look at the firm as a whole. We have a couple of groups coming through, so I’m going to put the videos out as I get them. ✅ This first video was done by Quamique Marcial (“Q”) and Louis Davis, 2 college students that came to us from the Boys and Girls Club of Harlem, and Conrad Luce. It was interesting to me – and made me happy – to see their take on Roberts & Ryan. This video was done entirely by the interns, and this first group was a little pressed for time. Can’t wait to see what the other teams put together! I would love to hear your thoughts! #interns #internship #summerintern #internchallenge #futureleaders #veteranownedfirm #capitalmarkets #financialliteracy
