This week, Jess Gray and Marcus Gray, CWB® of Gray’s LAMBscaping, LLC discuss how solar grazing can positively impact small and mid-sized farmers. Inspired by a conversation during the COVID-19 pandemic about seeing solar panels and thinking their sheep could graze there, they transformed their farm and created a business. By integrating solar grazing, where sheep graze under solar panels, they provide sustainable weed control and additional revenue. They promote this practice through the American Solar Grazing Association (ASGA) and mentor other farmers, balancing clean energy with agricultural prosperity. NEW EPISODE: Solar and agriculture have one thing in common: they both need sunlight ☀ . Oftentimes, this puts them on opposing sides, competing for land space. However, what if solar and agriculture could live together? In this episode of #WattsUpWI, we explore the field of agriculture and photovoltaics, known as #agrivoltaics and the possibilities in WI. We speak to Henry Hundt and Josh Arnold, JD, MBA, LEED AP (UW-Madison Office of Sustainability) about the future of #agrivoltaic research in Wisconsin. 🎧 Listen anywhere you find podcasts or click below: https://lnkd.in/gTWTT6MS

Here is the first of a series of three podcasts on dairy farm energy usage - quick wins to save $ and then planning for the future. They were fun to record so hopefully an enjoyable listen.
On-farm energy efficiencies, quick wins versus longer-term planning and ideas on where you can start to reduce your on-farm energy costs, are some of the things Jarrod Leak, CEO at Australian Alliance for Energy Productivity (A2EP) Australian Alliance for Energy Productivity, Dairy Australia’s April Browne and Christopher Horvath from pitt&sherry discuss in this DairyPod episode. 🎧 https://lnkd.in/gz_AzZjw #energysaving #podcast #dairypod #dairy #ausdairy #reduceenergycost

Did you know that: ➡️ Agriculture is responsible for around 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions. ➡️ Inefficiencies in agriculture also have economic and environmental impacts downstream. ➡️ As much as 30% of pesticides are wasted annually, costing an extra $250 billion and impacting air, soil, and water quality. ➡️ And despite that, we still lose as much as 40% of our crop yields yearly to pathogens. Listen to the latest episode of #HardwaretoSaveaPlanet to hear how Shely Aronov and the team at InnerPlant are tackling those inefficiencies with a very cool approach: they're turning plants into living sensors to communicate their specific needs. You know blueberries offer outstanding nutrition. Did you know they grow better in conjunction with solar panels, too? 🫐☀️ On this episode of Energi Talks from Energi Media - global energy journalism, Perch Energy CEO Bruce Stewart speaks with journalist Markham Hislop about how community partnerships, including with farms, can help expand solar development by tapping the “missing middle” between utility-scale generation and individual household rooftop PVs. Farms offer a prime example of this collaboration: co-growing crops and sunshine helps the younger farmers get involved in sustainability while providing less expensive energy, an additional income stream—and even better blueberries. #communitysolar #decarbonization #sustainablefarming Check out the full episode on Energi Talks: https://lnkd.in/eJK_Mk69
