Some months ago, Indi Young wrote an outstanding article about the impact of #research in the strategic direction of the companies. She explains how research might be the foundation of your company's next strategy: not only #UXresearch (services, solutions), but also #DesignResearch (people behaviours, mindset, and needs) and #MarketResearch in the landscape of defining #strategy. Some ideas that resonated me: 1/ "Research is about creating knowledge. Knowledge = Power" 2/ "You can help power your organization’s strategy with long-wave, periodic Strategic Design Research, and you can use this knowledge to supplement the work of finding and fixing problems in UX research. It’s worth the investment." 3/ "The value of Design Strategy research is that it provides awareness of assumptions and the variety of previously-unknown approaches people have to a defined purpose. [...] The goal is to measure how well a solution supports a person addressing their goal, their way. The goal is to move that needle to increase the number of people within a market, supporting the hidden variety of how people accomplish the same goal." Worth a read if you're in the process of setting a more strategic way of using your research initiatives!

6th post about UX laws and principles: 👉Let's talk about the Pareto Principle: 80% of the effects of any given process come from 20% of the the effort put into it. 💎 Takeaways ✍ Focus on High Impact A significant portion of results comes from a small portion of efforts, so prioritize those high-impact areas. ✍ Efficiency Concentrate resources where they matter most to achieve optimal results efficiently. ✍ Prioritization Identify and prioritize the essential elements that drive the majority of outcomes. ✍ Simplicity Simplify by focusing on the critical few, rather than attempting to address every element equally. ✍ Insightful Analysis Analyze the data to identify the 20% that yields 80% of results, enabling informed decision-making. ✍ Customization Apply the principle to your specific context to uncover areas for improvement. ✍ Strategic Allocation Allocate time, resources, and efforts based on the principle's insights for enhanced productivity. ✍ Continuous Review Analyze the data to identify the 20% that yields 80% of results, enabling informed decision-making.

Why is user testing so important? User testing saves time and money. When you conduct user testing throughout your design process, it helps you make corrections at the right time (before the product is released), and making corrections at the right time saves you from wasting time and money. User testing reveals unexpected insight. As a designer there are things you could miss while building your design. Conducting user testing can reveal some of those insights. These insights help designers make informed decisions to improve the user experience, address user needs and pain points, and create more effective and user-friendly products. User testing improves users satisfaction. It helps you to be focused on the users interest. You can incorporate user testing throughout the design process and mostly before you lunch your product. #uidesign #uxdesign #designers #appdesign

Design involves exploring ideas, collaborating, and researching to improve customer experiences and business outcomes. We love Dan Winer‘s critique of the limited view that designers just turn requirements into developer blueprints (sorta like a chef making meals from recipes). He highlights challenges like the company's focus on feature delivery, product management ownership of discovery, and a lack of advocacy for design methodologies like UCD or JBTD. Check out his post: https://lnkd.in/gmtc5kMT We’re on board. Dan advocates for designers to engage in stakeholder alignment, identify knowledge gaps, and conduct targeted research to meet business goals, user needs, and product vision. (we’re going to check out his suggestion of When Coffee and Kale Compete as a resource on JBTD theory from Alan Klement) We built Helio to support designer teams in stakeholder alignment, identifying knowledge gaps, and conducting targeted research through several key features: → Survey Tools and Visual Reporting–These tools help collect and present feedback from various stakeholders, ensuring alignment and facilitating decision-making based on shared insights. → Pre-built Templates and Audience Segmentation–These features allow for targeted investigations to uncover specific user needs and gaps in existing strategies, enhancing the design process. → Customizable Surveys and Real-time Results–Helio enables designers to tailor surveys to specific research needs and quickly access results, ensuring product development effectively aligns with user expectations and business goals. By integrating these capabilities, designers can navigate the complexities of product design and development, ensuring a strategic approach that aligns with customer transformation and business outcomes. #uxresearch #productdiscovery #marketresearch #productdesign
