If you've never had the opportunity to hear Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIEL speak, here's a snippet you don't want to miss. "Over 100 million individuals in the United States do not have a primary care physician." This statistic describes the complexity of the problems we face in the American healthcare system. She went on to provide information about the current #nursingworkforce and where we'll be in just a few short years if we don't make foundational changes to the current nursing reimbursement system. Her presentation was powerful and set up the mission-driven work of the day at our recent Legislative Summit. I now have hope someday the healthcare system will finally update their antiquated reimbursement process to a new fiscal model that will reimburse the medical care and services provided by nurses as every other healthcare provider in the system. It sure does take a team to create new paradigms.

Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIEL you made a strong, well-reasoned argument. Her point about 29 states potentially being unable to meet nursing labor demands in the next 5 years if current trends persist really hits home for me. As a nurse, I've seen firsthand the cracks in our healthcare system globally that contribute to these shortages. Inadequate funding, poor working conditions, and a lack of support for nurses are all major issues that need to be addressed. Without significant reforms, I'm afraid the situation is only going to get worse, with devastating impacts on patient care. We need bold action from policymakers to strengthen the nursing workforce and modernize our healthcare infrastructure. Anything less is unacceptable.

The time for transparency in healthcare is now! Thank you Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIEL for exposing what is happening in healthcare at the frontlines. It's time for the public to know what's ahead for them and their loved ones if and when they become patients in these States. Nothing short of a healthcare "revolution" for want of a better word is needed if we are to turn the tide in healthcare and prevent the suffering that data has proved lies ahead for our patients.
