Excited to share our Expo West edition of Ask An Influencer has dropped! Listen below, or wherever you get podcasts, and tell us what you can't wait to see on shelf! And 5 days later...here's what we’re still talking about from Expo West: The Sugar Showdown- On one side, we have Stevia, and lots of it. On the other, real sugar. And a LOT of honey! I hope this means the bees are coming back. Most brands with real sugars were keeping sugar content under 5 grams. We would love to see more of this. Chocxo Chocolatier had delicious dark chocolate squares with 2 grams of sugar, period! Hydration- Between #watertok and Stanley 1913 mania, manufacturers understood the assignment. Shout out to GoodPop, and their mini cans of flavored, unsweetened sparkling water for kids. Beyond that, we saw lots of water enhancers with specific benefits, mostly powdered sticks, + tablets and cubes that you can drop right in. We can see a world where you have an assortment on hand to address different needs on different days. Functional Beverages- Hydration's cousin. Drinks with stacks of benefits (mood, focus, gut health, energy—often sans caffeine—electrolytes for hydration, and adaptogens.) There are lots of wellness shots, too; we loved Magic Mind which promises a sharper mind, lower stress, and to “crush procrastination.” BFY sodas continue to delight. Bits & Bites- Lots of snackable bits and bites, for portion control and easy one-handed snacking. Top Pics for us here were all frozen treats! Holi Scoops, Sweety Ice Cream mochi, and Doughlicious - The London Dough Co. Outside the freezer, Tony's Chocolonely Lil’ Bits chocolate nibs were a standout. Our favorite was the S’more which was everything you would expect from a s’more, in a little ball. What a time to be alive! Return to Roots- We saw lots of brands where the founder is sharing their culture through food, and we can’t get enough. We build understanding and appreciation of one another through food. We need more of that! We love SOMOS Foods sides and sauces, Yolélé chips and grains, A Dozen Cousins beans, Aaji's’s Lonsa, and Ayo’s West African mini hand pies, to name a few. Another return to roots? Heirloom ingredients. We LOVED Pastifico Heirloom wheat pasta, also grown regeneratively. Packaging Party- We may be at peak packaging here. Beautiful, colorful, minimal copy, eye catching colors, fun fonts and graphics. These packs are leapfrogging what we see in mainstream products in terms of feeling fresh, modern, and desirable. GOODLES is one of the many brands just killing it here (plus, the product tastes great and their booth and outfits were super fun.) Who Runs the World?- Beyonce let the people know, and we were excited to see lots of products targeting women’s wellness. From clean feminine hygiene products, to snack bars and water enhancers like Mixhers for everything from PMS to libido to peri-and menopause- women’s wellness products are on the rise. What themes did you notice?
