🍀 🍻 Do you ever wonder what happens to the empty glass bottle of drink that you enjoyed on St Patrick’s Day? It heads to a recycling plant and gets turned into something new, often riding conveyor belts along the way. Engineers use tech like Discrete Element Method (DEM) in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ software to design these systems. Yet another step "forward". In the past (and in some countries still) it was usual to return the bottles, they were washed and refilled. Now we brake them to pieces, melt and "recycle". This "improved" process is much more energy and work demanding. So as always the process should be: REDUCE-REUSE-............................................................................recycle! But reduce and reuse generate lower profit, doesn't it?
