The team loved having you on Whitney Johnson Cowell! I started the idea of bringing an "Internal Guest Speaker" on at the beginning of the year to kick off our Monday meetings with the objectives: To spice up our Monday meetings: Increase Product knowledge and learn how each department operates Increase confidence in working internally across departments/offices Most importantly, the ability to internally network. I always think about increasing production by increasing efficiency. One of the best ways to increase efficiency is getting your team internally networked and engaged with the rest of the company. The guests we have had on include; Sales reps that have found success, the President of KCH, the head of our Air import/export team, and a colleague in our solutions departments. One of the things that I love most about KCH Transportation has been brought to light within this idea -> The willingness and the support of colleagues from different departments/offices wanting to collaborate. #creative #efficiency #leadership #management

Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting with a long-term client of mine Jenny Rice and her band of merry interns. We talked about the current state of our country. The Pandemic culture and the post-pandemic aftermath. Metrics. And most importantly, we discussed the idea of keeping our humanity. How can we put our humanity back in staffing? In a world full of "AI" and Social Media(TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Pintrest, Facebook, etc.) we've become a fear driven culture. Our fight or flight system is constantly being triggered by the content we see online. Content that is designed soley to get advertisement views. Not bringing us closer together but rather driving us further apart as a species. Swipe right if you don't agree! Only view content that you want to see, and it will be reinforced with 100 suggestions that only serve to back up YOUR opinions. "Trump is evil", "Biden is stupid", "toxic this or toxic that", "Quit that job", "You shouldn't have to do this", "You deserve this!", *watch this*, *look at this* *Conspiracy theory that*, *Layoffs this!* *conspiracy theory that* So it goes on and on... until your deep in the rabbit hole of your own opinion. I challenge everyone. Step away. Put down the phone. Lean in. Look at your neighbor with compassion and respect. Don't seek out their differences and swipe right at the first sign of trouble. Try to understand the other person. Trust that when working towards your goals it is not always going to be easy or "fun" or make you "happy" all the time. Sometimes it's the people along the way that bring you the most joy. It's the real life connection and every day moments that can help us reignite our passions. We live in the greatest country in the world! Not because we are all alike. But because we are all different. We all stem from different countries with different values, backgrounds and opinions. Yet we all have something to bring to the table and we can build something great if we try. 😁

You’ve met some of our amazing support team. Now, we’re excited to introduce you to one of our sales' super-stars: Kelley Hoff! Join us as she shares some great insights about her experiences below. What’s the best part of your job?: "I love having repeat clientele. It’s so gratifying to be able to work with people for a 2nd and 3rd time!” What’s the most challenging aspect of your position? “Personally and professionally, I don’t like friction. Occasionally we’ll have a difficult install, and I don’t like when things don’t go smoothly. I do love that Smith & Noble empowers me to resolve the issue though and has an incredible team of support staff to back me up.” What excites you about your future with Smith & Noble? "I really like to challenge myself. Last year, I was #1 in my region for sales; so this year I have a million dollar goal I’ve got my sights set on!" Something she wished customers knew? "They may get a cheaper price, but sometimes they get what they pay for and don’t have the quality of product and extensive follow-up service that we provide afterwards.” Most important question of all….pineapple on pizza, yes or no? "No. Definitely not. But I could have chips and salsa every day.”

Today marks a day that is giving me all the emotions. My last day at Watershed. It has been a little over 5 years since I first met with David Ells at Honest coffee with the intentions of networking, just having moved to Nashville. This convo grew to the new role that had opened on their sales team. I was pretty sold, but then I got to meet The Bill Conran the following week at Burger Up and that sealed the deal. I then gave a presentation to key Watershredders in the Red Keep on whatever I chose… it was on Stoicism.. cuz why not? I knew I was in for it.. because this was only the first time I felt like the dumbest person in the room. I like to think it wasn’t because I was dumb… but because this team was stupendous. For the next 5 years I got to ride shotgun in the world’s best Learning Analytics Platform, being the tip of the spear in understanding what can be possible within our L&D industry with Learning Analytics. Building use cases across industries. During that time, I got to speak with the largest companies in the world… that was cool. But what was cooler was the people I got to speak with. I guess it’s the nature of the L&D industry, pleasant people, who are out to not only make themselves better, but make as many people around them better. During that time, I was given the arena to grow. To grow without restrictions. Growth from speaking with those massive companies with amazing teams, growth from a team that provided candor, partnered towards solutions, growth from working with partners in the L&D space, meeting with industry experts. And all of these were unfolding in any given week. It was an absolute blessing. So to all my Watershredders from the journey thank you from the bottom of my heart. When I was a little girl, my grandmother had an unusual superstition about crows. She counted them and believed that the numbers meant different things. One crow meant sorrow, two crows meant joy, three crows meant you would receive a letter, four crows meant you would get a beau or suitor, five crows meant you would receive silver, and six crows meant you would receive gold. As silly as it may seem, this superstition helped me gain confidence in my sales career. Whenever I saw six crows, I knew something good was going to happen, and it usually did. But looking back, it wasn't the crows that made the difference; it was the confidence they gave me. I worked harder, asked more questions, and listened to my clients' unspoken needs. It became a self-fulfilling prophecy. Today's new salespeople may not know about the crows, but they still need confidence and support from their managers. Sales leaders must acknowledge and reward the good and work on the not so good to push their direct reports to improve their individual performances while showing them they believe in them, their skills, and their future success. Because at the end of the day, everyone in sales needs to see six crows. #Salesleadership
