Humbled to have been invited to share some thoughts around team Performance and Diversity at European Training Foundation and Cedefop. Key messages: 1/ Professionalism is not a standard. We all have our individual views of what it should be. 2/ Diversity is everywhere whether you like it or not. It is visible, invisible and acquired and drives performance when well managed. 3/ Our brain has to be “tamed” as it would be inclined to come to quick conclusions, interpretations. We are still wired for survival. 4/ There are strategies that we can practice as leaders for that matter. For those interested join us and discover our HOPES Leadership CQ framework. 5/ If we don’t deliberately include we will accidentally exclude. Super honoured to have shared stage on October 11, 2023 with Canada's top leaders in accessibility at the M-enabling Summit in a panel discussion on the “Rapid Evolution of Canadian Legislative and Regulatory Frameworks” relating to accessibility. Canada's Chief Accessibility Officer Stephanie Cadieux from the Employment and Social Development Canada (who participated remotely) and Philip Rizcallah, P. Eng, CEO of Accessibility Standards Canada, shared Canada’s innovative approaches to implementing legislative and regulatory frameworks. The goal is to facilitate the move toward a barrier-free Canada for people with disabilities by 2040. Monica Ackermann, Head of Accessibility, Scotia Digital, Scotiabank and I brought practitioners’ perspectives to the table. The session host, Jutta Treviranus, steered the discussion to showcase how Canada is equipped and poised to lead in advancing accessibility policy, regulations and standards globally with - the passing of the Accessible Canada Act, - research support for accessibility innovation, and - the establishment of Accessibility Standards Canada. Jutta is the Chair of the ASC Standard Committee on “Accessible and Equitable Artificial Intelligence Systems.” Her keynote earlier that morning on “Launching a Standard for Accessible and Equitable Artificial Intelligence (AI) Systems” in Canada had set the stage for this panel, and the panel complemented the keynote.
