Media coverage of technical interviews recently has highlighted that too many companies are asking too much of candidates -- while not even really honing in on the right things. Talk about a miss. Does make me wonder, though: are you clear on the full breadth of the role of #developer? It's more than whipping out some #code. Amanda Richardson this is bang on definitely reposting and hope everyone in my network really takes in this information! Fricken love working with your team because you GET IT!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Amanda Richardson I agree with your statement that there is more to Developers than just cranking up code! They are problem solvers, risk takers, innovators, game changers etc. Using AI in interviews is not particularly wrong. It does show that the candidate is resourceful! However, I do feel engagement in an interview is very important. AI can be used to prep for an interview, but reading out answers from ChatGPT does not show engagement or problem solving. I have seen people completely thrown off from what they were trying to answer while relying on AI. It’s a mix of everything- prepare for an interview, look up different resources, be creative, talk about genuine examples, be engaged and respect everyone’s time. 🙂
You're right, Amanda Richardson Being a developer is more than cranking up code. Developers are problem solvers. Just like other professions, developer's primary tool is the brain and then the hands. Accountants are not replaced by advanced counting machine because their job is much more than counting money. Thanks for the reminder.
Well said Amanda Richardson
