Has your Company outgrown its HRMS Payroll System? September is the time to plan for the 2024 Implementation. In this series of 10 let me take you through the major considerations when implementing new software. Implementations Step 2 Now that you have the key stakeholders, it is time to dive deeper into evaluating your company’s specific and general needs and wants. This is crucial. You need to distinguish between what you need to have and what you want to have. In this process, remember that collaboration is key! Sometimes, you may need to bend and, on occasion, even break to find the best solution. Also, at this juncture, it is essential to assess the assets you require to be successful, be it terms of technology for the implementation or the skill and capacity of your team members. Remember that your team members will most likely need to continue their full-time jobs. You need to be able to have someone be able to understand the following: · Understand the Capabilities and Usability of HRMS/Payroll products in the market. · Ability to match your needs and wants to the current HRMS/Payroll products. · Digest your team capabilities, bandwidth, and your current data. · Manage the timeline and costs. You'll need to decide whether this expertise comes from within your organization or if it's more beneficial to seek external assistance. I have found that the most successful implementations have third-party system-agnostic help at this phase of the project.

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means" - Inigo Montoya. Most of us are familiar with this line from the great film, The Princess Bride. Confession - I had my own "Inigo Montoya" moment yesterday on a call with a potential client, only he was "Montoya" and I was the one using a term that I intended to mean one thing while he was hearing another thing. No, it wasn't the term "inconceivable." I was talking about our Outsourced Payroll Services. Before getting into the details, he raised some valid concerns. He said the following (Here is my best summary): "We have multiple locations and managers at each location. I'm not sure it will make sense for me cost-wise to hire you guys since I'm going to have to hire an internal person anyway to track down approved time from the managers at all of my locations -- and they don't always turn in their approvals on time - and then this person will have to verify this info and then enter it into our system. With you guys stepping in to process, I've still got to have someone to do all of this preliminary work." I instantly realized that when I used the term "Outsourced Payroll," what he heard was "Look through the info once it's been gathered & uploaded and push the button in my payroll system following the heavy lift of this preliminary work." And of course he expected this would be too costly of an option to have to both (a) Hire an internal payroll specialist and (b) Hire us to do a piece of the work. We went on to explain that we actually take on the entire process from Pre-Processing to Processing to Post-Processing (Collaborating w/ HR department after new hires are brought on, tracking down, reviewing and verifying timekeeping info w/ managers & entering into the system, handling bonuses/commissions/etc, processing the payroll, resolving any discrepancies, submitting final payroll, preparing post-processing reports, and a LOT more). In short, I was intending to mean a FULLY outsourced payroll solution and what he was envisioning was a very PARTIAL solution. Further, we were confident that we WOULD save him money versus a W2 employee option. Once we clarified, I was pleased that he did not object by shouting - "INCONCEIVABLE!!!" 😀 Lesson learned. https://lnkd.in/eRtifPRT
