I have serious concerns about how damaging this legislation could be for health centers. While I appreciate Reps. Bucshon, Carter and Harshbarger for attempting to lead efforts toward reform - the harm that will come to health centers from the present language is troubling to say the least. I look forward to working with these members of Congress, and others, to institute meaningful reform of the 340B program - reform that will keep in tact the key components of 340B as intended - to reinvest and expand access to care for those in need - and create protections for health centers in leveraging this this vital program. The entire purpose of 340B is to expand access to care for patients and communities in need - that's what Health Centers do. Any effort toward reform must honor and support that tenet. #leadership #340B #healthcareaccess #chcs #fqhcs
Today, U.S. Representatives Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN-08), Buddy Carter (R-GA-01), and Diana Harshbarger (R-TN-01) introduced the 340B Affording Care for Communities and Ensuring a Strong Safety-Net Act (340B ACCESS Act), a bill that makes changes to the 340B Drug Discount Pricing Program. ACH is unable to support the 340B ACCESS Act in its current form. While we strongly support Congressional efforts to address ongoing issues within the 340B Drug Discount Program, the provisions in this legislation would result in an unacceptable reduction in the value of the 340B program to health centers, which would restrain their ability to care for patients and continue expanding access to care for those most in need. Wow
Can I share this?
Had been under the impression that these three offices were actually supportive of health centers?!
While I understand this bill is nothing but a 'marker', it's NOT helpful!
How did this happen?!
This is troubling.
