The Longest Day Spotlight! We would like to recognize and thank Amy Covell-Murthy (she/her) and Erin Ward, the incredible duo behind the 8th Annual Flip Off Alzheimer's Pinball Tournament for The Longest Day. As a team, they've raised over $1,100. Amy's participation is especially meaningful as she honors her Grandma Bertie, who passed in January 2023 after living with dementia. For the past 8 years, Amy has participated in The Longest Day with her grandmother as her inspiration and continues to raise funds in her honor. Neuro-inclusion in higher education & the workplace advocate & scholar | Qualitative & Creative Inquiry Researcher | Visual Artist | First Generation graduate | Academic manuscript editing & proofreading services
With high levels of autism and neurodiversity in STEM education, and the resulting social anxiety and lack of understanding of networking, many highly qualified students in STEM struggle after graduation and organizations like Aspiritech are needed... however, we need STEM employers and industries to also examine how prevalent autism and neurodivergence is in their workplaces too and how this population contributes to their success. To remove the stigma of autism and neurological variations among people we must generate data and make this population visible and appreciated while also learning to accommodate differences that matter to people's lives and their physical and mental health. #autismSTEM #autismacceptance #autismworkplaces #autismSTEMindustry #makeautismvisible #engineeringeducation #stemeducation #techindustryinsights

One of the things that Parkinson's Disease UK do really well is to explain the projects they fund, if you go to https://lnkd.in/edSDdSXR and then to https://lnkd.in/eb6n7u4b (2.7Mb, pdf) you can see what was funded in 2023. Interesting read for the scientists on linkedin.
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2020. It’s the fastest growing neurological condition in the world and affects 150,000 people in the UK alone. Since then, along with family, friends and colleagues we’ve raised over £50,000. This short film tells my story to raise awareness of the condition and strengthen support for the incredible charity, Parkinson's UK . If you want to find out more about Parkinson’s or get involved in fundraising just drop me a line. The Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh was one of three nonprofits featured today by WTAE Hearst Pittsburgh in this video and article on the impact of #GivingTuesday https://lnkd.in/dYUF7a2y "A worldwide movement, Giving Tuesday, we've all just spent lots of money through shopping and now it's time to give back and thinking of organizations like ourselves as a nonprofit, it's so vital, to consider a donation," said Meredith Peterson, the executive director of the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh. "Providing free resources, support, connection opportunities, all of those things are needed. And we need your support to be able to do that and provide those types of things to our families." Peterson said her 15-year-old daughter has Down syndrome, so she understands firsthand the impact the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh can make on a family. "We are working directly with individuals with Down Syndrome, we're providing free programming with adaptive fitness, we have free yoga, we have cooking classes. We provide free resources," she said. "As a teenager with Down Syndrome, connecting with other people like her, you know, where she can take a cooking class and be surrounded by other individuals with Down Syndrome doing their thing. (It's) exciting because they're here with that unique connection." But those free resources and activities can't be provided without donations. To give to DSAP, visit https://dsapgh.org/

I have taken up the Steptember Challenge along with my team members Arun Kumar Ravindranath, Winnie S., and Magnus Bradley, a month-long initiative to raise funds and awareness for an incredible cause. The challenge involves walking 300,000 steps throughout September, and I'm thrilled to share that I'm already at 200,000 steps on the 10th day! However, what truly makes this journey fulfilling is the support and encouragement I receive from wonderful individuals like you within my network. The Steptember Challenge aims to improve the lives of people living with cerebral palsy, a condition that affects millions of individuals worldwide. By participating in this challenge, I am committed to raising funds that will make a difference in the lives of those who face daily challenges due to cerebral palsy. The funds raised go towards vital resources, assistive equipment, therapy programs, and support services that enable individuals with cerebral palsy to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. But I can't do this alone. I invite you to join me on this journey by extending your support to this cause. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will have a significant impact and help us create positive change. Together, we can empower individuals with cerebral palsy, providing them with opportunities to thrive and reach their full potential. Here's how you can support: 1. Donate: Please consider making a donation towards my Steptember Challenge. Your generosity will directly benefit those in need and bring us one step closer to our fundraising goal. https://lnkd.in/gV6qp53u 2. Share: Spread the word about the Steptember Challenge within your network. Share my fundraising page or this message along with a few words of your own, encouraging others to support this cause. Together, we can reach more people and make a greater impact. 3. Cheer: Your words of encouragement mean the world to me. A simple message or comment on my posts about the challenge will go a long way in motivating me to keep pushing forward. Let's walk this journey together, step by step, and create a world where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and generosity. #inclusion #steptember #steptemberchallenge

At the age of 12, a child was involved in a 4-wheeler accident that resulted in fractures to the right hip and leg as well as injuries to the larynx, vocal cord, and spine. The patient's right leg is stiff and his left hand is unable to make a fist. Sometimes, back pain makes it impossible to tolerate sleep, and can't keep own's balance for more than 20 minutes. His prior hospital records and data indicate that he had experienced some hemiplegic symptoms. #ieml #Medicalcamp #socialScience #homeopathyworks #csr #instiuteofsocialscience #Fundraising #Donate #Support #Charity #Crowdfunding #HelpOthers #GivingBack #Nonprofit #Philanthropy #CommunitySupport #RaiseFunds #BenefitEvent #SupportLocal #GoodCause #ChangeLives #MakeADifference #DonationDrive #Impact #GiveHope #Volunteer

Some may call us an active bunch! 🍊🍐 Movement is often the topic of conversation at Prime and we love motivating each other to progress in our physical challenges! 🏃♂️💨 We know movement promotes positive thinking, so here are some ideas that have encouraged our team to keep moving: 👟 Group Strava: Sharing and supporting each other's activities boosts motivation and makes that dreaded morning run much more likely to happen! 🏸 Active Team Building: Our monthly racket days are full of fun, silly action shots and plenty of laughter! 💪 Charity Events: We participate in walks, half-marathons, and marathons to support Alzheimer's Society These events never fail to create a buzz in the office and simultaneously raise money for a fantastic cause. Let's keep moving forward together for #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek! 💙 #MoveForMentalHealth
