We’re so excited to be an official charity partner of the London Landmarks Half Marathon again in 2025. This is not your average half marathon - from cultural landmarks to the city's quirky hidden secrets, runners will get to explore the capital on a route like no other! Hear from one of our fantastic runners from who took on the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Alzheimer’s Society this year: 'I decided to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Alzheimer's Society in memory of my Grandad who had dementia for many years before he passed away in 2017. I wasn't much of a runner previously and found the event really helped motivate me to get outside and get active, all while raising money for an amazing cause. 'The support from Alzheimer’s Society was second to none, with plenty of advice and tips to help you both with the training and the fundraising. The race day was a highlight of my year, with a great atmosphere through the whole course, including at the Alzheimer's Society cheer point. I was really pleased to raise over £1,300 for the charity, much more than I thought I would! 'I'd absolutely recommend taking part in the event for Alzheimer's Society. Set yourself a challenge and help raise money to end the devastation of dementia.'

Partner at Marks & Worth Lawyers | Chair of the Board of Presbyterian Support Otago | Family Lawyer | Collaborative Professional
Short story: Presbyterian Support Otago has great people providing essential services to the people of Otago but those services are at risk. PSO needs your support! Joanne O’Neill and I are running to raise the profile of the organisation’s significant financial need. We’d appreciate your donation. Link in the article. Long story: The last three years have been rough on the Aged Care sector and the Not-For-Profit sector. Covid, the crisis in the nursing workforce and rising costs of living have made it more difficult and more expensive to provide care. Unfortunately government funding for the most vulnerable elderly people who can’t afford to pay for private care has not increased in line with inflation, meaning that Not-For-Profit providers of aged care cannot afford to keep going and are being forced to close beds. PSO has 8 homes in Otago providing care to over 600 residents. We have had to close beds in the last year because we simply cannot safely staff them. Closing beds means people miss out on care and PSO misses out on income. Income that we rely on to fund our Family Works services, including the food bank and the buddy programme which supports over 100 vulnerable children. The financial year ended 30 June 23 has been our worst ever in living memory. We cannot afford another year like it. So as the CEO and Chair of the Board Jo and I are doing our part to raise the profile of PSO’s need. We both like running so decided we would enter the Great Naseby Water Race as a team. You can help by donating via the link in the article. Or you might be able to volunteer your time. Become a buddy to a child in need? Play the piano or read to the residents in one of our homes? There are plenty of opportunities to give your time. Thanks for your support! https://lnkd.in/gt2kg6HH https://lnkd.in/gmHDHYjK

Running for a good Cause: My Paris Marathon Experience ❤️ Last Sunday, I finished the Schneider Electric #ParisMarathon in 4h 02min 52sec 🏆 But this wasn’t just about setting personal records or enduring the 42.195 km, it was about running for a cause greater than myself. Therefore together with my employer igus France I collected donations for Médecins du Monde. 🌟 It’s truly remarkable to witness 1,324 Paris Marathon runners joining forces, collectively raising 13,172 donations, resulting in an impressive total of 678,031 € for 26 organizations committed to making our world a better place. 🌎✨ If you’re active in a sport, why not for a good cause? It’s a powerful way to combine your passion with purpose. You will not only find donors among your friends and family, but above all in the company your working for. Considering charitable giving, remember that generosity doesn’t just benefit only the recipients. In many places your company can get back a portion of its donation through tax deductions, making it a win-win for everyone involved. So, whether you run, donate, or support, let’s do it with the intention to create positive change. And to igus France, thank you for setting an example of corporate social responsibility. Let’s make a difference together – one step, one donation, one marathon at a time. 🌍 #ParisMarathon #CharityRun #SocialResponsibility #CorporateGiving #Medicinsdumonde #MarathonParis

In just over a week’s time, our service users and staff at the Early Interventions Service will be climbing Scafell Pike to raise money for our charity, Caring Minds. 🌄 On Friday 14 June, a team of six service users and four staff members will be climbing up the iconic Scafell Pike in the Lake District. Their aim is to raise £500 that can be used towards funding equipment or activities for mental health patients that are over and above what the NHS can afford. Our Early Interventions Service (EIS) works to support people aged 14-65 who are experiencing their first episode of psychosis. Psychosis is when people lose some contact with reality. This might involve seeing or hearing things that other people cannot see or hear (hallucinations) and believing things that are not actually true (delusions). It may also involve confused (disordered) thinking and speaking. Towering at 3,209 feet high, the summit of Scafell Pike will be a challenge, but it is one that the group are looking forward to conquering. As well as raising funds, this trip will combine the benefits of physical exercise, a sense of community and more than anything, pride in themselves for achieving a goal set. 🙌 Coordinator of the event, Luke Rose, Lead Health Instructor, said: “Some of our service users had set what they thought were ‘unrealistic’ goals when they accessed support from the health instructors within EIS, however, with strong determination and mindset, these goals are now very much achievable! Empowering service users to realise their potential really is the foundation of everything we do, whether it be through gym-based exercise, mountain biking, tennis or any other form of physical activity. “The positive impact that some of our smaller hikes and photography walks have had on service users’ physical and mental health really does speak for itself.” If you would like to contribute towards this fundraising expedition, no matter how big or small, your donation will be very much appreciated for all involved. Earlier this year, my colleague Keith Mitchell and I agreed to take on the iconic 3 Peak Challenge to raise funds for the Race Against Dementia charity. Why Race Against Dementia? You will be surprised to know that there is currently no cure for dementia, which is devastating so many lives. Today, there are over 55 million people worldwide living with dementia. This means that one in three people born today will die with dementia and every 3 seconds, someone is diagnosed with dementia, scary stats. I hope you will agree that something needs to be done to prevent this dreadful disease. Your support will go towards accelerating dementia research and to drive a significant breakthrough in finding a cure. The Challenge: We will be setting off on the 13 June with our partners Dee Watters and Emma Mitchell. The 3 Peaks Challenge involves summiting the highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis), and Wales (Snowdon). Respectively, it is a gruelling test of endurance and determination, covering over 42 kilometers of hiking and 3,000 meters of ascent. We will be navigating varying terrain, and this challenge will certainly push our physical limits while raising funds for Race Against Dementia. Please take a moment to donate using our charity page below. Your support will be appreciated. https://lnkd.in/eTPA__by

Hi Everyone, With the January payday fast approaching I’m reaching out and asking for your support with my London Marathon attempt! Last year that I won a place for the London marathon raising money for Alzheimer's Research UK on behalf of HSO UK, and since then I have been training for the big day but its not been an easy journey! I found out last year that I had a bit of a dodgy ticker, which at 33 isn’t the best especially when running long distances… but after various check ups I got the OK from the doctor to start training. Needless to say I grossly underestimated what it takes to run a marathon and overestimated my level of fitness. During this time I got married, went on a honeymoon to New Zealand and I’ve been plagues with niggles and injuries at every step of this journey so far! Turns out when you’re running form resembles that of an overweight T-Rex with biscuits for ankles you’re going to get really sore hips, knees and terrible shin splints… who knew?! I’ve over trained, which makes you feel like you have the flu… and under trained which means I ate too much on my honeymoon... but hell or high water I will be completing the London Marathon on the 21st April. But the end is in sight with just under 3 months to go and I can say that the heart is ticking… the injuries are mostly healed, and my running form is vaguely human… so I can now start my build up to the run… and this is where you come in. I need donations. I’m running for a cause that is close to many peoples heart, Alzheimer's Research; so, every penny is really appreciated. I’ve put a link below to my just giving page, which has more information on my reasons for running and where you can donate. I know we are still in a cost-of-living crisis and it’s just been Christmas, so please don’t feel any pressure to give what you cannot afford, but if you are able; add me on LinkedIn if you haven't already, and like / share any posts; that would greatly appreciate it! However, if you are fortunate enough to be able to donate, please note that every penny you donate is matched by my company HSO. I’ve put an ambitious target so helping me achieve that would be awesome. Just Giving: https://lnkd.in/eGrRWR5H I’ve had a tonne of support already, but I want thank everyone that has and will help me get across that finish line in April. But until then please keep an eye out for my updates going forward! Thank you! Kieran
