The ‘Attitudes to Dementia’ World Alzheimer Report 2024 Survey is out, and we want your help! ADI’s survey seeks to better understand what people around the world believe about dementia so we can help build better support and advocacy for people living with dementia and their communities, wherever they are. Whether you are a person living with dementia, caring for a loved one with the condition, a healthcare worker, or a person who has little experience with dementia; whether you think you know a little or a lot about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, your views matter. What may seem evident to you may not be someone else’s belief, which is why it is essential that we gather as many voices as possible. ADI congratulates the efforts of Argentina, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, and Spain, which have gathered more than 400 responses so far, and to Panama taking the lead with over 1,000 responses. The more responses your country collects, the more representative the data will be, leading to greater impact and more detailed insights into the situation in your country. Follow the link or scan the QR code to access the survey: https://lnkd.in/eUjRQq8e We have so far received responses from at least 142 countries and regions, but we need many more people to take 10 minutes to answer our survey to ensure we get the most diverse insights on dementia stigma and attitudes towards the condition to have been gathered to date. The survey is open to everyone, so please share it far and wide with your friends, family, colleagues, communities, and networks both online and offline, and don’t forget to take part yourself! The survey is available in over 30 languages, including French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesia, Swahili, Japanese, and many more. If you are interested in helping translate the survey into your language or helping spread it where you are, please reach out! #AttitudesToDementia #WorldAlzheimerReport2024Survey #WorldAlzheimerReport #ADI #Dementia

📣 A huge well done to my fantastic colleagues at Alzheimer's Society on this important new research we’ve released today to kick off #DementiaActionWeek. 💬 Our alarming findings show that dementia costs the UK £42bn every year, growing to an astonishing £91bn in the next 16 years. Most of this cost is taken on by families and individuals as unpaid care/impact on the economy as people are forced to leave their careers to care. 🤝 Our urgent focus is to improve diagnosis (1/3 of people with dementia are living WITHOUT a diagnosis - unacceptable!) as well as the care and treatment options we have with other major health conditions. 🚩The impact on people’s lives, the healthcare system, and the economy is unlike anything we’ve seen as a society and needs action today! 🗞️📺 Brilliant coverage today in The Guardian, The Times, Mail Metro Media, Daily Telegraph, Daily Express, iNewsTV, Daily Mail, GB News, ITV, BBC and many others, continuing through the week! https://lnkd.in/eSKQH6d7
Cost of dementia to UK could almost double to £91bn by 2040, study finds
