Sustainability efforts are top of mind for everyone at events—as they should be. But knowing where to start and how to move the needle can be tricky. With Cvent CONNECT (and a whole lot more) coming up, it seems like the perfect time to highlight some practical steps toward making sustainability the standard in our industry. In this episode, Felicia Asiedu Rachel Andrews and I learned some wisdom from Cassidy Knowles, the Group Managing Director of Chorus Creative Group in London, which is doing spectacular work with sustainability. We had some fun with the episode format this time around - listening to a previous chat with Cassidy, then talking through her insights and adding our own to the mix. I was already committed to being part of the change I wanted to see, but this conversation fueled the fire. So excited to share it with you. Check out the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/edU_Tpas

Founder of PURPOSE Sustainability Strategy, PURPOSE Net Zero, THE BLUEPRINT; Regenerative Systems Thinker; Sustainability Expert; Heal the Inner to Heal the Outer.
I didn't go to #ClimateWeek this year. I applaud the efforts of the sustainability leaders who are there and continuing to move their respective industries forward. Last year, I was full of excitement having just launched, so full of opportunity. I was invited to a prestigious event hosted by a reputable financial organization focused on climate action as essential risk avoidance. There were a handful of fortune 50 Chief Sustainability Officers on the panel, I was thrilled to learn and witness the conversation. Showing up to the event, the first thing I saw was the catered breakfast, with various cute parfaits served in plastic. Next, there were compostable plates and plastic forks/spoons, but no composting or recycling anywhere in sight. (If compostables go to landfill, they still last 300+ years) Also, few people were engaging with the food due to the networking opportunities. I presume the food was not donated, post-event. This was the first glimpse of an insight which I have experienced in my work frequently over the past year. There is a disconnect between the C-Suite and events - not intentional - but one nonetheless. I presume the C-Suite doesn't know much about how events come together yet value their importance. They're creating #netzero goals and discussing #decarbonization and otherwise adjusting business practices - without addressing certain harder to abate departments/scope 3. Event planners also have the best intentions for sustainability but it can be overwhelming without a simple and logical path forward. The main event emissions are these, in order of impacts: Travel, Energy, Sourcing (Suppliers/Materials), Food, Waste And of course, positive impacts come by way of CSR activities. The business case for sustainable events as we teach event pros? 4 Main Factors: Compliance, Financial, Future Generations + Brand Reputation We need business leaders to address sustainable innovation in all departments and all aspects of business. I am excited for the day when #sustainabilitystrategy is the first step in all events and I believe we will see it become standard practice within the next five years. #eventsofpurpose #sustainableevents #sustainabilitystrategy

Helping very busy business owners untangle the knot of ideas in their head so they say what they mean and sell what they do in a language their ideal clients understand | Copywriter | Proofreader | Researcher
Today, I'm at The Business Show with my business buddy Sally Pearce and we're looking forward to what the day will bring. It's a two day event but we're going to pack a lot into just today - Thursday! There are lots of interesting speakers and seminars and when we went last year, we took in a lot of information. We really enjoyed being part of it as participants. Why go? Apart from the fact it's free, you meet lots of interesting people. You learn new things. You get some fantastic tips. You learn about a lot of things you've never thought about or never used before. You gain sore feet by the end but it's worth it! The show also talks about sustainability, and there's an area called Sustainability Zone that helps SME and startup owners to measure, monitor and report on the environmental impact of their processes, making their businesses greener. To me - this is really important. The more you can give back, improve on the impact you have, even as an individual solo business owner, is essential. I think it should be part of our mantra as business owners. There is so much to find out about at the show, I hope to capture as much of it as possible. Let me know if you're going to be there too! #thebusinessshow2023 #businessinspiration #networking #businessideas #copywriteratlarge

Founder & CEO at Tried & Supplied - we're raising! Driving visibility and credibility of ESG data in F&B supply chains
I love the idea of Green Incentives for employees that Raphaella Yver talks about on the Sustainable Hotels Podcast. It seems to be working very well for Pandox and gets everyone focused on driving positive change and achieving company ESG targets. So much of operating more sustainably is to do with behaviour change, so starting by incentivising positive behaviour is a great way of approaching it. It's also interesting that most of their investments into sustainability have seen ROI within the year. #esg #sustainablebusiness #hospitalityindustry #behaviourchange https://lnkd.in/eQtaGj2K
