CREATOR TIP OF THE DAY: In the new age of content creation, I’ve learned that sometimes, higher quality pays off more than higher quantity.
When I first started using TikTok, I was very niched down to strictly Pop Culture and Celebrity News reporting where I was pumping out a news story every 2-3 hours (I now make content in so many other niches). In the early days of TikTok when the algorithm was more generous, this paid off big time. Millions of eyeballs on multiple pieces of content per day - of course I was going to post as much as possible.
Lately, on all platforms, I’ve started to notice a “clogging” of the algorithm. When I post multiple videos in a day it seems as though I clog my feed and make it harder for people to watch multiple pieces of my content. Some people even unfollow on higher posting days. This made me have to think of a new way to make content, and with TikTok’s 3-10 minute video features, I found a way. I switched from posting 15-30 second stories to instead filming 3-5 minute weekly Pop Culture recaps that allow everyone to catch up on their news in one video. I dive into the stories deeper, reference high quality images, and even give a few funny opinions here and there. Bonus: I can monetize these on TikTok since they're over 1 minute!
Additionally, I’ve started filming some of my lifestyle content using a Sony DSLR camera. I’ve noticed a lot of creators talking about how they think the old YouTube style of content is coming back, because when using a DSLR it eliminates the ability to have smoothening/beauty filters, making the creator seem more authentic. It also just looks so much better.
If you can find a way to take a piece of content you’re good at and make it more digestible for your audience while also upping the quality of the content visually and taking the subject matter a step further - I feel these have a greater pay off. Here is an example of a year end recap that I did that has 4.6M+ views:

The changes were a different editing style (no green screen), a higher quality podcast mic, and my Sony DSLR camera. I emulated this on a few other videos and saw a similar result.
Hope this helps! 😀
