Ramadan teaches us values that are applicable to our personal and professional life, such as self-discipline, helping others, empathy, compassion, gratitude, and patience. We can take it as an opportunity to consciously practice these values at our workplace as well as at home and in our communities. Curious to know which values you plan to focus in this Ramadan? #ramadanmubarak

Do you know what "Ramadan Mubarak" means? "Ramadan Mubarak" is a greeting used by Muslims during the month of Ramadan, one of the holiest months in Islam. "Ramadan" refers to the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. "Mubarak" means "blessed" or "happy" in Arabic. So, "Ramadan Mubarak" translates to "Blessed Ramadan" or "Happy Ramadan," and is a way to wish someone a blessed and joyful month. Fasting is a school for educating our soul and purifying our heart, and for correcting our conduct. Therefore, it's not just about abstaining from food and drink, but also about abstaining from everything that is prohibited. During this period, we should avoid saying what is wrong, avoid insults and enmities, as well as bad habits. Below are some of the teachings from the school of Ramadan fasting that we can use in our daily lives, both professionally and personally: ⚫ Integrity: The worship of fasting is a secret worship, between you and God, where no one knows the truth about your fast except God. Some may pretend to fast in front of people, not eating or drinking in front of anyone, but when they are alone, they eat and drink. ⚫ Perseverance: Despite feeling hunger, thirst, and other temptations, we remain firm to achieve the ultimate goal. Usually, the first days are more difficult, but the rest are more tranquil, showing that perseverance is very important to reach the final reward, in the medium and long term. ⚫ Gratitude: Ramadan helps to reestablish the importance of so many blessings that we take for granted, i.e., food, water, sleep, etc. When we are deprived of these things, we realize their value. One of the best feelings we have during this month is the first sip of water at the moment of breaking the fast, where we feel the water flowing through the body. ⚫ Empathy: Fasting teaches us kindness and generosity, as every moment we feel hungry and thirsty, we put ourselves in the position of the poor and needy, and with that, we become more generous in Ramadan and beyond. ⚫ Time management: Fasting teaches us to take advantage of and organize time, as we stop eating exactly at dawn and return exactly at twilight. ⚫ Self-control: Fasting teaches us willpower, as leaving food and drink shows us that we can abandon vices like smoking and other practices that harm us; ⚫ Celebrating success: After the end of each day, we gather to break the fast with family, with friends, and at the end of the month, we celebrate in a grand party, also, to mark the end of Ramadan. This is one of the two festivities celebrated by Muslims in the year. I am very grateful to be part of DHL, a company that respects and values diversity and to have very open managers who respect the team’s differences. During this month, I often hear: “just because you're not having lunch doesn't mean you shouldn't take your lunch break, take the time to rest,” :) 😍

Supervisor Work Integrated Learning | Career Development Practitioner | Enhancing Student Career Journeys
This is an important topic for the WIL/co-op & student work experience space. I experienced the importance of having conversations with students who are preparing for their co-op and WIL experiences while I was helping out with mock interviews this week. I jumped in to help with a 3:30 interview with a student, who seemed very low energy throughout the interview. They lost their train of thought responding to a question near the end of the interview, and said "I'm sorry I'm not as sharp as I want to be, I'm fasting right now" We ended up having a very good conversation about preparing for the upcoming interviews during Ramadan. As important as it is to have these conversations with our students, it was also a good reminder that we should also be preparing and reminding our co-op and WIL partners to create space and consider how they can be supportive and compassionate to students who are interviewing during this time. #workintegratedlearning #wil #coop #studentworkexperience #inclusiveeducation #inclusiveworkplace
As the holy month of Ramadan (March 11 - April 10) begins, consider some simple and accommodating ways to support co-workers, friends, and members of your community who may be observing. Different people will be celebrating #Ramadan in a variety of ways, so remember to be respectful and flexible.

Ramadan Kareem to all my beautiful network! <3 Have a blessed month full of family gatherings, prayers, spirituality, kindness, warmth and blessings - Ameen! Do not forget to: - Communicate clearly to your manager and team, how you feel during Ramadan, some people really struggle without coffee, food & water so it is OK to communicate how you feel, especially the first week! - A to do list is a MUST in Ramadan, set priorities for yourself to focus on what's important and hence decrease the stress that can happen during Ramadan at work - Set clear expectations on hours of working, deliverables ...etc.

Observing Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, is a significant time for many of our colleagues. Here's a few reminders that can help them during this time. 1. Be respectful of their fasting and changed energy levels. How can you help them with productivity if needed? Can their workload be altered? 2. Don't schedule meetings and gatherings during the day that include food sharing activities 3. Show support and understanding and educate yourself 4. Be respectful of prayer times and avoid scheduling meetings during that time 5. Celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the festival that marks the end of Ramadan, with your colleagues. This can be a great way to show your support and build camaraderie in the workplace. By simply being considerate and understanding of our colleagues' observance of Ramadan, we can create a supportive and inclusive work environment for everyone.
During the sacred month of Ramadan, may your hearts be filled with gentle reflection, tranquillity and harmony. Sime Darby Berhad wishes you and your families a profound and fulfilling Ramadan Kareem. #SimeDarbyBerhad

Do you find others questioning about #Ramadan? Well, the answer lies in getting clarity about your personal goals in Ramadan and how to make it equally comfortable for others through effective #communication. Ramadan is a blessed month for Muslims all over the world. Still, it also offers a chance to increase our productivity, discipline ourselves and adopt healthy habits other than the spiritual side. We not only leave food but also the things that bring harm to us or others. A journey towards becoming a better human being, practice patience, and become tolerant towards things that result in anger or discomfort. However, there are a couple of things we can do to not compromise our work vs our indulgence in worship in a #diversified workplace. Feel free to discuss the #flexibility of working hours and the expected outcomes with your team and supervisor. Give them #confidence of delivering the results even with a different routine. Make others #comfortable eating and drinking around you, especially those who are not fasting, as it's all about self-control and not asking others to abstain from eating. Explain the true #essence of Ramadan and respect other schools of faith. Show a #positive change through your behaviour and acts. Have a blessed month of Ramadan
