In 2018, Accelerace made our first foray into the Baltics by co-founding Overkill Ventures, a pre-seed-focused VC fund based in Riga, Latvia. Overkill was based on our platform for acceleration and investing since 2009 in Denmark. With Overkill, we made 45 investments and learned a lot about investing outside Denmark. It was only possible because of our Latvian GPs Peter Marculans and Dmitry Saikovsky and advisors such as Krists Avots. Overkill paved the way for Accelerace to invest in the Baltics, and recently our Copenhagen fund has invested in two Latvian startups, WeedBot, and Skin Bliss. As well as the Estonian startup Salu. Due to our presence in Latvia, Julia Gifford has written an article about us in Labs of Latvia. The article highlights that we like to invest in first-time founders, unlike most VCs who prefer repeat founders.
