Stay cool and safe this summer! Remember to follow the Alterman 20% Acclimation rule: gradually increase your workload in the heat over 1–2 weeks to build heat tolerance. Hydration is key, but balance is crucial. Too little can lead to dehydration, while too much can cause overhydration and hyponatremia. Be aware of medical conditions that raise heat stroke risk, such as age-related changes, diseases affecting sweating, medications, and other health issues like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and anxiety disorders.
