JUNE is National 🦺 Safety Month‼️ This is Jen, operating a machine that could truly cause loss of limbs. A giant, exceedingly sharp, hydraulically powered blade. But there are many safety precautions to prevent anyone from being hurt: 1. Fully trained operator 2. A light barrier that shuts the machine down if you are even close to the blade. 3. There is a very good article in this month's Professional Safety Journal about classifying SIFs/PSIFs (serious injuries/fatalities or potential serious injuries/fatalities). The suggested classification adds tracking information regarding whether the incident resulted in exposure and if controls were present and effective. This provides a good way to judge what exposures are driving SIFs/PSIFS and most importantly, what was the capacity for recovery when the event occurs. ASSP.org
