We've heard many start-up pitches lately and this is what most get wrong about their #ICPs: While some completely ignore this essential aspect, others include them but without touching upon what investors want to hear. Vague ICPs are problematic. But even clearly defined ones are not enough. You need to find out how to identify these people (or companies) when looking to sell to them. A good ICP serves 3 purposes (and the last one makes all the difference): 👉 The ICP should enable you to identify a good prospect QUICKLY. 👉 You should be able to simply convey the ICP to someone else in such a way they can find other ICPs. 👉 The ICP should be defined so systems can be built to identify them while scaling up. Founders Raising Funds for the First Time Be Like 🕺 It's exciting, and it feels great. But it's not a path to riches; It's a means to an end. Instead, before you take on any funding, consider the following in this order: 👉 Can you bootstrap your business? 👉 Can you obtain grants to develop your technology? 👉 Can you secure non-dilutive financing to grow your business? 👉 If you have explored all of the above and still, come to the conclusion that a funding round makes sense, then go for it. But remember,  there are expectations It's not an easy responsibility  So don't take that decision lightly. ✅ I love what the kid says at the end: "Let's do a really good job because they paid us first."
