Remember that ThinkAdvisor article that referenced a table in the U.S. Department of Labor's fiduciary rule, which indicated that fixed annuities outperformed variable annuities over a 10-year period? Some of us were scratching our heads about it. Here, Allison Bell explains what is going on. (Still not sure I get it, but perhaps we can have a rousing conversation about it, and hash it out?) #Annuities #FixedAnnuities #VariableAnnuities #ThinkAdvisor #IntelRockstar https://lnkd.in/ekTKUVhU

Good stuff to know... In the context of annuities, zero floor compound interest typically refers to a feature where the interest rate applied to the annuity does not drop below a specified minimum, even if the overall market interest rates decrease. This ensures that, regardless of economic conditions, the annuity will continue to accumulate interest at a rate no lower than the predetermined floor. This feature provides some stability and protection for the annuity holder against significant decreases in interest rates, allowing for more predictable growth. Keep in mind that specific terms and conditions may vary among financial products, so it's crucial to carefully review the terms of any annuity contract to understand how the zero floor compound interest operates. A key advantage annuities bring to client portfolios: in a traditional investment, when equities drop, client assets may take time to recover—but with fixed and fixed index annuities, both principal and any past accumulated interest are guaranteed. Want details? Check out https://bit.ly/3H1OG1c.
