What an interesting initiative to get people moving about. Do other towns and cities have this too? I also love the fact that a GP invented this - as a GP-led company ourselves I'm always interested in innovation coming from doctors. Hat-tip to Dr William Bird MBE 👏👏👏 Essentially, children and their adults have been given a card to scan on various 'beat boxes' across the town in a six-week game starting on Valentine's Day. There are 100 to find, with the intention that people will get up and out and about to go to tap. I see from the news article linked here that the effects on the getting-up-and-about last for a couple of years, and could seed a new habit of being active. Points and prizes ahoy! Being outside has numerous benefits to mental well-being, as well as physical health. Cultivating a good habit at a young age can head off ails down the line. This game is a partnership between Dr Bird's company Intelligent Health UK. Suffolk County Council. Ipswich Borough Council and East Suffolk Alliance. I am interested to know what other initiatives people have seen to get the country up and moving.
