This last month was busy on the professional front topped off with the launch of the 2023 Community Alcohol Partnerships Annual Report. Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) work to reduce alcohol harm among children and young people, particularly to prevent underage drinking, to improve their health and wellbeing and that of the communities where they live. We do this by setting up and supporting local partnerships of police, councils, schools, retailers, health partners and neighbourhood groups. 2022 marked the first year for CAP that was not severely affected by COVID. It is also the fifteenth anniversary of the launch of the first CAP. As more normal activities resumed, many lessons were learned from the COVID experience about how we could operate more effectively. As a result, CAP has continued to grow its impact in reducing alcohol harm among young people during 2022 and into 2023, including the launch of 20 new CAPs in 2022. #alcoholawareness #alcoholharm #underagedrinking #annualreport

Exciting study findings!. We investigated the link between neighborhood poverty levels and ED visits due to attempted suicides. Do residents from impoverished areas face socioeconomic barriers and are less likely to seek help, or do they face a higher risk of completed suicides? Conversely, do residents from affluent neighborhoods genuinely experience more attempted suicides? Can money truly buy happiness? Join the discussion and explore the intriguing insights!

Are you using the complete abstinence model of recovery? I'm proud of you! Are you using suboxone, methadone, vivitrol, or sublocade for your recovery? I'm proud of you! Are you trying to use/drink less? I'm proud of you! Are you using cannabis for your recovery? I'm proud of you! Are you using kratom for your recovery? I'm proud of you! Regardless what anyone thinks of your recovery method, if it's working for you, KEEP DOING IT. I'M PROUD OF YOU! We need to encourage, regardless if we agree with their recovery method, or not. There is no wrong way to do this! Whatever works for you, is the right way for you, and I'm proud of you! Copied from a friend. This situation is urgent -- and we plan to meet with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to ask that they take action."
