Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity #Day2 A lot of walking, lot of inspirational talks, lot of FOMO feelings 😅 Day 2 was about BRAVERY. Don't be scared, be creative (but remember, it's just not only that). 1) McDonald's and E.L.F. BEAUTY (completely different companies) shared how connecting with their fan base (and not focusing on the 'haters'), co-creating with them and really joining the conversation, was key to their success and fueled highly successful campaigns based on true insights. 2) Mark Ritson's first ever Cannes talk 'Creative is not enough' - to be really controversial with all the other talks. In summary, #creativity it is a vital factor for communications, but there are so much more other elements when it comes to marketing effectiveness. From the importance of market orientation (diagnosis), to having a proper positioning and a clear understanding of who your target is (strategy) right through to the fundamentals of 4Ps tactics. But recently, this connection has dramatically changed its content and model. Nowadays, it is not enough to share notoriety or glamour.  Currently, personalities are business partners because they actively involve personalities as creative content generators and agents of cultural and social change. Diageo's nightmare in his relationship with the rapper Diddy runs into issues such as the reach and penetration of distribution. Endorsement is not a punctual or reactive relationship. It is an entirely business implication. This new business with creators of popular young culture allows engaging with tribal and minority menacing but attractive fields of opportunity. But the traditional risk of endorsement (being attached to sometimes mercurial personalities) is right now surpassed by eager and demanding partners dangerously empowered by fandom devotes. Diddy and Diageo will probably meet in court, but the jury verdict of millions of passionate fans will be a sentence sour and hard to swallow. Never advertise like Coca-Cola Last week, I spoke to a lady who was trying to get clients for her career coaching services. I asked her: “What are you currently doing.” Her response: “Just copying the best marketers in the world like Coca Cola by running ads” I told her this was the worst thing she could do. The goals of Coca Cola are completely different than a coach like me or you. Their focus is on brand building. They already have distribution worldwide. Oppositely, We are looking to get new clients to purchase from us. The way we do marketing must me much more direct and calculated. 1.⁠ ⁠Build an emotional connection with your audience 2.⁠ ⁠Make offers  3.⁠ ⁠Close deals ^ Most 6-7 figure coaches I know on LinkedIn are doing exactly just that.

If there was a gold medal for brand storytelling this week, Heinz certainly won it with their latest ad for the Olympics. 🥇 In one 30-second ad supporting "The Everyday Heroes", they were able to tap into the immense nostalgia surrounding the brand and successfully unlocked all our childhood memories featuring ketchup, while at the same time, modernizing and reinventing the story around the simple experience of adding ketchup to your plate. No matter how big or small your organization is, there is a lesson here to learn when it comes to telling a great brand story -- the simplest stories that are authentic to your brand are often the ones that have the greatest power to connect. #LinkedInSports Challenge Day 2 Ask anyone in my Sports Venue and Event Management grad class what advice they would give those in the sports industry and we would all say the same thing: 1️⃣ Have a sense of purpose 2️⃣ Have a sense of urgency. It was something that Tom Benzel, an adviser for our class, emphasized and practiced with us. The way you walk into a room matters. The way you shake hands and introduce yourself matters. The way you present yourself around peers and superiors matters. Tom forced us to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. In the live events world, things can change in an instant. You have to be able to react in an instant or think one step ahead. “Run and take care of this/grab this” is not meant to be taken figuratively. And finally, taking a page out of the Savannah Bananas’ book, look for inspiration outside the industry. Adapt best practices from other experiences - restaurants, hotels, airlines, theme parks, streaming services - and make it your own.

Driving the 1.5 hours back and forth yesterday for a Philly Ad Club event, I was a little nervous to get so far out of my cozy little safe space. Not just out of my house, but out of my city. With real people. Who I don't know. And have to like... talk to. And despite my ability to chatter incessantly on calls with my team and our clients, talking to strangers is not my jam. Being there gave me the chance to hear from the CMO of Athletic Brewing Co., a brand I've been following for a minute now as my love/fascination of the NA sector continues. Andrew Katz shared some great insights from the perspective of a founder-led company, hitting on so many of the tides we swim in at 51. The tightrope walk of long-term and near-term, and the importance of being *genuinely* mission driven. How to look outside your sector for inspo... it was all such music to me ears. I met some lovely people. I explored an adorable little town I'd never seen. And I scribbled almost two pages of notes that I can understand about 50% of reading through today.
