Today's Tip Find someone to help you. It doesn't have to be a paid professional, but it does need to be someone you can trust who has both a good knowledge of financial independence and asset allocation, etc. It also should be someone who is willing to periodically help you be accountable for your actions. We all need some help. Even financial advisors should have someone overseeing their plans and giving them periodic feedback.

Creating a human first firm goes beyond helping clients with the numbers. It requires a mental shift in how you think about your role as a financial advisor. For some, this is an easy shift...or maybe not even a shift at all. For some, you may have a desire to make the shift but aren't sure you can or want to go at it alone. Whether or not it's an easy shift, bringing in a Financial Behavior Officer can help your firm go Beyond the Plan™ to support clients in all the ways mentioned in this graphic. In addition I would add/specify: 1) Helping clients have meaningful conversations with their partner &/or children 2) Understand how their thoughts and feelings connect to current financial behaviors. 3) Navigate tough decisions like pre-nup, beneficiary designation, trusts for adult children, selling a business, etc. Daniel Crosby, Ph.D. shared this graphic earlier this week noting that "the future of advice is much bigger than money management."
