When Dubai comes to mind, most think of sunny, cloudless skies. Yet, this Tuesday presented a stark contrast as the city experienced its heaviest rainfall in 75 years, with some areas receiving over 250 mm of precipitation in under 24 hours. Day turned to night, and torrential rain wreaked havoc, flooding roads and forcing motorists to abandon their vehicles. I captured this photo at 3 pm - just before the storm's peak. Stranded travelers filled airports, while others were trapped in cars for hours. My home, like many others, endured the full force of the downpour, leaving us without electricity or water for 2 days. Dubai's typical comfort felt distant amidst submerged ground floors and abandoned cars lining flooded streets. Nearby Oman suffered even greater losses, with nearly 20 lives claimed by flash flooding. These incidents contribute to a growing list of extreme climate events worldwide, underscoring the urgent need to raise awareness and strengthen our defenses. Climate change is no longer a distant threat; it's a reality, unpredictable and pressing. We must take decisive steps to mitigate its impact and safeguard our planet's future. #climatechange #UAE #Oman

Torrential rain and widespread flooding are nothing new to Dubai. For instance, it rained heavily here on Xmas Day I think 1996, didn’t stop for weeks, and there was flooding in areas for months afterwards. Weather.

Dubai is resilient like a spring the more it is pushes the more it bounces back. Sometimes like these God wants to test what he has heard about so much. He knows the the beautiful city will be back on track by Monday. 😎

Nothing will happen to our planet. Our species may disappear though. George Carlin was truly prophetic.
