This week we held a workshop dedicated to the kick-off of the Visit Cycle to Member States for monitoring the implementation of the Port Reception Facilities (PRF) legislation: Directive (EU) 2019/883 for the delivery of waste from ships. During the workshop, the Commission and EMSA presented the purpose, scope, and objectives of the future visits, which will start in 2024, as well as the methodology behind its planning. Also presented were preliminary statistics on the uptake of the Directive and the status of transposition compliance. Member States shared their first experiences, challenges, and best practices in relation to the implementation and enforcement of the PRF Directive, with presentations from Spain and Finland. The Future of Carriage of Goods by Sea was a key parallel session at the Gothenburg Colloquium, moderated by Stuart Hetherington. The session focused on the pertinent question of whether the #RotterdamRules cater to the needs of the 21st century. Contributors to this panel included Tomotaka FUJITA, who highlighted the safety aspects of the Rotterdam Rules, and other speakers who shared their regional perspectives. Erik Røsæg discussed the implementation of the Rotterdam Rules in #Scandinavian countries, while David Farrell emphasised the necessity for the #UnitedStates, as a shipper country, to ratify the Rotterdam Rules. Andrew P M Robinson argued that #Africa is ripe for reform, and Manuel Alba outlined the benefits #Spain is reaping after signing the Rotterdam Rules. Gertjan van der Ziel updated delegates on recent dialogues between the #CMI and the #EU aimed at achieving widespread ratification within this significant trading bloc. Today in Brussels was « Saint Nicolas ». The gift of the great Saint was the high participation and involvement of all our members. Firstly this morning we held a meeting of the CECRA #Board of Directors with excellent discussions on lobbying choices and concrete actions to be taken in 2024. More information will follow as we go along, but it was important for this Board to be able to make decisions on the basis of consensus and trust between colleagues. Thank you very much for your constant involvement ! Thank you also to our guest from AVERE - The European Association for Electromobility - Philippe Vangeel for the good presentation and discussion. This afternoon we brought together colleagues from the #independent #repairers division this time (yesterday we had the ECD-CIV meeting) with a number of topics crucial to the future of after sales market such as access to #invehicle #data, #functions and #resources where we discussed the #DataAct but also the most recent developments on the #SSL (sector specific legislation under the #typeapproval legislation), #SERMI implementation in the various Member States and other important issues. There are many open lobbying actions in Brussels, where public policies that have an impact on our sector are decided. It's essential to anticipate them and influence the conditions that can affect not only the profitability of #dealers, #agents and #repairers but also innovation by #SMEs and therefore also #consumers’ choices. That's why we think it’s more important than ever to stand united in the face of all the challenges we face, and that’s what CECRA has been striving to do with all its members since it was founded 40 years ago.
