Winning an Award: It's More Than Just the Trophy! Did you know that winning an award opens doors far beyond the accolade itself? it's not just about the moment of victory; there's a whole world of extras that come with it, often overlooked but incredibly valuable. Take, for example, the opportunity to be featured in prestigious publications – a benefit that's worth its weight in gold. Normally, securing a spot in a leading magazine can be costly, but winning an award can land you that coveted space for free.  And it's not just any advertisement; it's a feature that celebrates your achievement, adding an extra layer of credibility and recognition. So, the next time you're considering entering an award, remember it's not just about the win – it's about the journey and the doors it opens.

I use to have a “Little Wins” dinner every Thursday with two of my friends. We’d go around the table celebrating our wins for the week — no matter how big or small. Because research shows that recognizing our achievements, even little ones, can boost: ✅ Mood ✅ Motivation ✅ Productivity ✅ Performance Sadly, these dinners stopped when we moved to different cities. But I still find ways to praise my progress. Here’s one way: 1.) Create a table with a column for: ☑ Date  ☑ Achievement  ☑ Opportunity (made available by the achievement) ☑ Metric(s) 2.) At the end of each week, write down 3 (or more) achievements 3.) Celebrate yourself! This method has helped me: ✅ Land corporate promotions ✅ Gain courage when experiencing self-doubt ✅ Recognize progress on my entrepreneurial journey ——— Our brains are designed to look for problems. That’s why we dwell on failures more than achievements. But don’t be so quick to discount your progress. Comment with a win you’re celebrating this week. Yesterday, I was busy creating social media posts for a client, all the way up to October 1st. October 1st already – we haven’t even had summer yet!! It hit me how fast time flies when we're caught up in the day-to-day grind. So I say, let’s celebrate our achievements as we go before we forget they even happened! 🟠 Pause & Appreciate: Take a breather and reflect on what you have achieved this year. It's about recognising progress and the lessons learned along the way 🟠 Boost Your Mood: Celebrating achievements lifts spirits. Whether big wins or small victories, acknowledging them keeps us motivated and makes us feel good 🟠 Plan Wisely: Just like scheduling posts in advance, celebrating achievements helps us plan clearly. It shows us what's working well and what we need to tweak. Actionable Tips: ✅ Keep a Win List: Write down your achievements regularly. It's a simple way to track progress and stay positive ✅ Toast Your Wins: From finishing projects to hitting goals, take time to celebrate. It builds momentum and encourages future success ✅ Make Time to Reflect: Schedule moments to reflect on your journey and achievements. It helps us stay grounded and appreciate our growth Let's acknowledge how time flies and the challenges it brings. When it comes to showing recognition for the good work people do, bigger isn't always better. Sure, accolades and awards can be great. But have you ever had someone tell you how grateful they are for you? No spot lights. No LinkedIn post. No blasting it on the company email chain. Just one-on-one, Telling someone how special they are. Now that's something people never forget. You see, Many managers think showing recognition has to be this big public occasion. They'll go through all the trouble to show recognition, But won't take the little step to thank someone privately. Here's a groundbreaking thought ... do both! In light of our most recent campaign, "no Blueprint for Excellence", I am sharing my own blueprint and what makes me, me I guess! There's really no defined path for Excellence, just a mindset - a will to learn with every failure and challenge; to push all the boundaries (both externally and internally) and the openness to find new ways to reach goals. My team is a great example of Excellence, and I'm not writing this just because they are my team. No. This campaign is a prime example of this: coming together, each with their own expertise, and through a brainstorming that kept building and growing on enthusiasm and ideas we have arrived at a final result that exceeds all expectations! There were many setbacks, challenges, back-and-forth, but we kept on going, and the result speaks for itself!
