Time, Lots Of Data & Multiple Leadership Firings/Resignations, Eventually Proved I Was Correct (This Article Is From 2014). TEN PLUS YEARS LATER ~ What Happens When MPS Leadership Refuses To Listen To Exemplary Classroom Educators And Once Again Fails To Address District Wide Systematic Climate & Culture Issues.

An Open Letter Regarding The Black Diaspora Symphony Orchestra 2024 Juneteenth Concert "Cried from OUR Soil" - A memorial concert for Jeffrey Dahmer's victims; the victims families; Sade Robinson & all others that have been lynched. Dear Friends, The act of lynching was often preceded by horrific mutilation of the body. The human body was treated in many ways worse than a farm animal. Human beings were beaten, tortured, raped, murdered, lit on fire, & hung up on display. Pieces of the body were taken as souvenirs or trophies. Humans were skinned & turned into furniture or other items. Some were boiled into medicinal grease & consumed. Pictures were taken to commemorate the horrific event. In many instances, acts of cannibalism would take place as part of the lynching spectacle. Law enforcement was often times an active participant. When law enforcement was not an active participant, they routinely failed to prevent it from happening. Victims of lynchings were often times Black Americans. Milwaukee has seen this spectacle all too recently in a somewhat modern way. The lives impacted by the actions of Jeffrey Dahmer have not been taken seriously. Unfortunately, those actions have provided macabre fodder for entertainment across the United States.The victims & the families of the victims have never been put at the center of what occurred. This concert is a way of correcting that. I have been sitting on this concert program for four years. I have given it to three different orchestras. None of them have touched it. The winds of current events make this moment the time to bring this concert to the families of the victims & the public of Milwaukee. Out of respect for the victims and their families, the name mentioned above will only be mentioned that one time in the entirety of this post. As artists who care deeply about the human condition & care deeply about our community, we are struck by pain it in all of its manifestations. We are not deaf to hearing it. We are not blind to seeing it. Lingering all around us, is the pain of the chasm between law enforcement & Milwaukee residents. Leaping from neighborhood to neighborhood, the pain still echos in communities of color causing destruction. The pain from the destruction & mistrust in Milwaukee’s LGBTQ community still runs rampant. For those with feet in multiple camps we see, feel & hear, the ways that your anguish has been exponentially magnified. For us as artists, we see, hear, & feel all of this as a call to action to begin to close the wound that has been created. For those already on that journey, this concert is a way of helping you make peace a bit quicker. For the rest of us not so intimately acquainted with the victims, there is a history lesson here for all of us so that this never ever happens again. Baity has composed works for choir as well as solo voice, piano, organ and orchestra. Her works have been performed both in the United States and Europe. Her solo piano compositions, Q&A and Toccatina were award winners at the 1992 National Conference of Piano Pedagogy. Her latest work, the Mary McLeod Bethune Suite was premiered on October 3, 2003 at the opening of the Performance Arts Center located on the campus of Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida.
