Echoing what Grant Shapps articulated, as much as we may not want to admit it to ourselves, a glance across global events clearly illustrates a shift "from a post-war to a pre-war era." Our military must rapidly adapt to these changing tides. Our approach to procuring new equipment must evolve to maximise every pound spent. This is essential not only to speed up delivery but also to ensure investments are made in what Britain truly needs to fight and win. It's a harsh reality we face, but preparing our defences for what lies ahead is more than a necessity—it's vital. Better to be over-prepared than under-prepared.

Saab signs contract with Swedish FMV for a third GlobalEye Saab has signed a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) regarding delivery of a third GlobalEye airborne early warning and control aircraft to Sweden. The order value is approximately SEK 2.6 billion and the delivery period is 2024-2029. The order is based on an option included in Saab’s contract with FMV from June 2022 which included two GlobalEye as well as options to procure two additional aircraft. GlobalEye has the Swedish designation S 106. “We are proud to contribute to Sweden’s defence with another GlobalEye aircraft, which will provide unique situational awareness of the surroundings as well the capability of early detection and warning of potential threats in the air, at sea or on land,” Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab GlobalEye is an advanced multi-domain AEW&C solution with an array of active and passive sensors that provide long-range detection and identification of objects in the air, at sea and over land. By providing real-time information to units in air forces, armies and navies, GlobalEye enables enhanced situational awareness of the surrounding areas and early detection of threats. October half term is in full swing for most of the UK, which means many families will be out and about exploring the beautiful British countryside. 🍂🎊 From Lulworth to Salisbury Plain, the Scottish Highlands to Castlemartin, the Ministry of Defence are custodians of some of the most dramatic landscapes and coastlines in the UK. Much of this land is accessible to the public, but the spaces are used for essential military training. The MOD encourage you to discover the beautiful and varied expanses that we are proud to steward and maintain, however it’s important that you only access the land when and where it is safe to do so. These are the main things you need to remember when out and about this week: - Always check armed forces training times before visiting ⏰ - Pay attention to signage, information displays and red flags 🚩 - Stick to public footpaths and bridleways 🚶 - Do not touch any military debris – report its location for safe disposal ❌ Find out more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eard4Zyn
