🤯 Why is it that complicated? I'll tell you: Change detection. React is a library for reactive frontend development. When using let, react wouldn't know that something has changed and therefore not trigger a view update. Put in other words: No trigger -> No reactive programming. For that reason the useState method returns two values inside an array. Index 0: the current value of the state Index 1: the update method for it Example: [counter, setCounter] = useState(0); The update method (setCounter) contains code to notify the renderer that something has changed.
