Helping parents earn college degrees has an undeniable impact on their earning potential, their kids, and their communities. When I lived in DC, I became part of the Generation Hope community—providing mentorship and tuition support to teen parents striving to graduate from college. When I moved to California, I was able to continue providing scholarship funds while another amazing volunteer took over the mentoring role. Now there are more Generation Hope scholars who have earned their degrees and want to become mentors themselves. They just need partners to provide the tuition support. Could that be you? Every dollar we raise through this fund goes directly to supporting scholarships for Scholars and allowing us to recruit and support mentors who are committed to their Scholars but aren't able to provide funding. Culture enriches our soul, Travel changes lives. The more we learn about our world, the more fulfilled our lives can be. Many young people are trapped by poverty, but poverty is not limited to financial opportunity. It is also the poverty of never seeing the countryside, never experiencing another culture. Travel promotes equality and inclusion and can often be a turning point in a young person’s life, providing different perspectives and stimulating exploration.   🗼 Children of middle-class parents have access to a vast array of people who can help them on their way. Want to be a doctor, lawyer, business owner? Those parents will know someone who can help and will rightly use these networks to help their children. What about children who have no parents, or in an orphanage?  How do we use our networks for them too? Relationships change people’s lives. Kuru Kururu Primary School has been our largest partner school since 2021, with over 1,100 students and 50 teachers/staff members! Reflecting upon my own upbringing, I recall a lack of access to quality education, a limitation that hindered the acquisition of even the most fundamental literacy skills. With the passage of time, this narrative replayed itself in the lives of countless other children. It was then, amid these shared experiences, that a fervent desire was kindled within me. A desire that is steer towards the change in educational sector ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, is bestowed with the gift of a quality education.
