A headline that has been 5 years in the making. As I celebrate this milestone with our team, I wanted to share a few flashbacks that feel so central to the Reposite story, along with a few key founder lessons that I picked up along the way: There was a day in Nowaday’s prime, where Josh Wardell and I were driving one of our newly purchased 1930’s cars through NYC - we were about 6 blocks away from the garage, when my car started smoking. In an effort to protect the engine, I turned the car off at a red light in Columbus Circle. It was 9:30pm and we were both exhausted. When the light turned green, the car wouldn’t start. I remember getting out of the car to find a bright green liquid underneath the engine. Instead of panicking, I made a few phone calls, diagnosed the issue, and tuned out the honking and the angry drivers behind me. Founder Lesson #1: Don’t panic. Instead, ask yourself - "What's the very best thing that I can do in this moment given the current circumstances?". Keep doing those things. That night, Josh and I pushed the car 6 city blocks into our garage. He didn’t hesitate to help - just rolled up his sleeves and got to work. Founder Lesson #2, surround yourself with people, who are willing to walk through fire with you. Hire for heart - Josh is an incredible example of this and I am endlessly grateful for his selflessness and commitment to the team since day 1. Fast forward to the pandemic. We were a sightseeing car tour company with 1 month of runway in March 2020. Over the course of a weekend, and with the support of our investors, we pivoted the business, sold the cars, and spun up a tech travel marketplace. Oh, how easy it would have been to fold and walk away! Alexa and I refused. We knew there was still an opportunity at hand, and we wanted to use our resources to explore it fully. In the subsequent months, a PPP loan, then a November 2020 raise gave us the resources we needed to build on our idea. My new mantra became (and still to this day is): Founder Lesson #3: Be a cockroach. Refuse to die. Find a way to survive, pivot, evolve, reinvent. Even if it’s just one day at a time. To my cofounder, Alexa Berube who is the most relentless, competitive and generous person I’ve ever met in my life. She carried the business on her back during my TWO maternity leaves over the last 3 years. The level of grit and willpower in this woman is just unbelievable and I am so honored to have been able to walk beside her on this journey. Every Sunday for 5 years, we met for a hours to pull ourselves out of the weeds, think strategically and recalibrate. We’re celebrating this news 2 days before my daughter turns 6 months old. Balancing an infant and growing Reposite over the last 6 months has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But I’ve never been more optimistic for Reposite’s future. We're excited for this next chapter to join the Cvent network and continue to shake up the group planning industry!
