Over the last 8+ months, I have received many DMs expressing your support and concerns. I apologize for not getting back to all of you sooner. As I finally find the strength and time, I figured I would catch my network up to speed. My dear friend Barr Solnik expressed in one of his posts the other week that the less spoken challenge for reservists like myself, is the one of people going back and forth from being fighters to fathers and soldiers to employees. This is a great summary of my life and many of my friends. I highly suggest reading his content.  While some people constantly figure out the work-life balance, for the last 8+ months, my reality has been figuring out the war-life balance. Our lives have been put on hold to defend our right to exist. Since October of last year, we have been dealing with this transition. In the beginning of the war, I went over 2 months without seeing my family, then tried to resume normalcy, only to be called up again three months later. I recently completed my second round of reserve duty after being called up in mid-April with just four days' notice. This time, I saw my family every week or 2, for a few days, which was almost more challenging than the long separation. This cycle has severely disrupted my personal and professional life.  While balancing the challenges of being in and out of my wife and children's lives, my responsibility to provide for my family didn't disappear. It became increasingly difficult to find meaning in my work and day to day tasks. When I was away, my focus was on making it home. When I was home, I aimed to maintain stability during the most unstable time in my life, knowing that at any moment, my life could be disrupted, and most likely will be disrupted again for another round. This is all while navigating one of the toughest times in the CRE industry in the last decade and dealing with the mental toll of experiencing war.  With all that being said, the other week it hit me. This is exactly what our enemy wants to do to us if they cannot physically wipe us out. They will try to destroy our lives, mess up our routine, and put me and a lot of my friends in a position to make us believe that that you can't find meaning in work and mundane tasks after fighting a war and that all these things are going to stop me from building a better future for my family. On a global level, Anti-Semitism has been at its worst since the Holocaust. We are threatened not just by tunnels, but by strong world influencers and celebrities making a real impact on trying to destroy Zionism and Jews.  Cont. in comments...

I have come to realize that the battle does not end when you return your gun and gear. It is an ongoing fight to be the most quality version of yourself both personally and professionally every day. So in sum, here is how I am doing...On a personal note, although I was away from my family for a good part of the last eight months, I have taken the time to learn how to be a better father and husband and appreciate the time I have with them. My entire perspective on what is really important in life, and not to take anything for granted, plays a massive role in my day to day. Professionally, while navigating these tough times in the CRE industry, I am still associated with my old venture working at Kay Finance but have decided to take on some new, exciting projects that give me the flexibility to control my work-life balance. While I occasionally get caught up in the story of the transition, I have worked on countless exercises to get me right back into the grind. And although I don't have the golden answer to ending Anti-Semitism, I will continue to spread love and respect to my friends, colleagues and clients. No decent human being deserves to live like this. Our enemies fight to destroy; I fought and will continue to fight to live.
