Denmark is currently only 4% circular, as recently disclosed by the Circularity Gap Report. Is it good enough? No! The need for a high circularity in Denmark has never been bigger! If you are part of an organization that champions circularity through #reuse, #resell, #repair, #refurbishing, #remanufacturing, and #repurposing (#upcycling), we have a special invitation to you! We're launching a survey to reshape circularity in Denmark, available in both English, German, and Danish. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete, and you can play a big role in reshaping circularity in Denmark. By joining, you will have access to the following metrics about your organization: - Reuse and rejection rates, as well as carbon emissions (estimate) - Insights and recommendations about revenues and funding sources - Insights and feedback on the resilience level, plus benchmarking (optional) The survey is part of the "Resource Circularity Networks" project, carried out in collaboration between Technical University of Munich and DTU - Technical University of Denmark (Vitor Souza, Magnus Fröhling, Daniela Pigosso). Join the survey now ➡ [Survey Link available in the comments] #CircularEconomy #SustainabilityResearch #CommunityEngagement #CircularDenmark

How is PRIMUS Project EU successing in reaching high TRLs? PRIMUS is paving the way for groundbreaking advancements in mechanical plastic recycling and developing high performing and added value recyclate-based products through the collective expertise of our diverse consortium, by fostering open and transparent communication, and by creating an environmental where trust and innovation can thrive. 💎 This is well illustrated in the project news piece just produced - it highlights well for example the collaboration established with VTT & MAIER Group & MTC - Manufacturing Technology Centre 🔬🥼👨🔬👩🔬 💡Jani Pelto, D.Sc. (Tech.), Principal Scientist at VTT remarks that the “R&D collaboration with Maier has been very open and easy from the beginning as we clearly have common goal to demonstrate high performance of the plastics with high recycled content in a demanding interior part. It is highly beneficial that the development targets, the relevant design parameters, the pathway to the final industrial validation tests, and the industrial mindset for using recycled technical plastics has been jointly discussed and brought in early in the project.” 🏁Beñat Madariaga, R&D&I Project Leader at MTC (Maier Technology Centre), fully agrees with Jani. “Truly and open innovation collaboration with VTT validating the compounds received from VTT in order to assure that automotive interior parts could have a pretty high percentage of recycled material and fulfil the current automotive industrial performance. VTT collaborated strongly against all the requests needed after each upgrading trial”.
Excited to share the latest insights from PRIMUS on our journey towards sustainability! 🌍 Discover the best practices we've implemented to drive positive change and make a lasting impact. Dive into the article to learn more about our commitment to a greener future, highlighting the experience of some of our experts: Anna Tenhunen-Lunkka, Jarkko J Saarinen, Mathilde Taveau, Beñat Madariaga Aurrekoetxea and Jani Pelto. SPIRIT programme led by Borealis boosts circular economy of plastics promoting long-lasting, reusable products, avoiding single-use and incineration, and building efficient recycling loops to keep valuable plastic materials in use with shortest possible circulation loops. This involves active collaboration with customers, value chain parties, authorities and researchers, influencing both policies and practices emphasizes Sanna Martin from Borealis Finland the leader of the theme “Enablers for green transition”. Read more about this R&D theme and Sanna's thoughts in the article below ...and feel free to contact us in the SPIRIT team if you have ideas how you could contribute to the theme - "reduce, rethink, reconsider source, reuse"... #sustainability #plasticsindustry #greentransformation #circulareconomy #kiertotalous #muoviteollisuus #recycling #environment #circulardesign #plasticproducts #valuechain #sdgs #innovation #ecosystem Spinverse Business Finland
What does #circulareconomy mean to you? For me it means change of mindset from linear to circular thinking; to keep valuable materials in use with shortest possible circulation loops and lowest possible environmental impact. Can you do it all by yourself? To some extent yes, but for a true circularity, you need #collaboration with stakeholders, each bringing their expertise to enable creation of sustainable circular loops. There are unexplored possibilities in ideating, testing and implementing different circular economy resource management principles – such as reduce, rethink, reconsider source, reuse – in the way #plastics are used today. #SPIRIT programme’s ecosystem offers possibilities to bring different actors in the field together and develop concrete circular solutions. Read more of my thoughts around ‘Enablers for green transition’ in the latest SPIRIT news article.

Nominations for the ACE Awards (Australian Circular Economy Awards) at Circularity 2023 have been extended and submissions close this Friday! I once again have the privilege of being on the judging panel, and will be participating in judging the Full Circle Award and the Regenerating Nature Award: The Full Circle Award is a "recognition and celebration of a systems approach and consideration of all three principles of the circular economy. Projects demonstrate incorporation of all three principles using one or more circular business models and are proven solutions in your sector/industry/supply chain". The Regenerating Nature Award "recognises circular innovations that embody the circular principle of regenerating nature through whole system design with positive impact on natural systems, potentially adoptable at scale". There are also several other categories, so any of you circular innovators out there should check out the categories, and if you think you meet the criteria, have a crack! Sustainable Development 2030 🌍♻ Green Products - another strategic goal that we want to achieve by 2030. We aim for 100% of our product list to comprise sustainable products. We are talking not only about the composition of individual products, but also about the production process. The sustainable nature of products means designing products and their packaging in such a way as to minimise their negative impact on the environment throughout their life cycle. Moreover, we want all our products to be based on accurate calculations of how much of a carbon footprint they leave behind. Every positive change should start with yourself. We operate here and now 💚 #Synthos #SustainableDevelopment #SustainableDevelopmentGoals2030 #GreenDirection

Bega Valley Circular Cooperative Launch: Pioneering Circular Practices in Australia - Three years ago, we initiated a dialogue on Circularity in the Bega Valley, collaborating with key stakeholders such as BegaCheese, KPMG, Local Council, NSW State, University of Wollongong, and local businesses and communities. Fast forward to November 2023, and we are delighted to announce the official launch of the Circular Cooperative. Rabobank proudly stands as one of the founding members, and we have been joined by numerous companies since our initial conversation. The Cooperative has identified key workstreams, integrating regenerative agriculture, waste management, energy, innovation, and water, aiming to make the Bega Valley the most circular in Australia. Currently engaged in various projects, we are taking deliberate steps to achieve this goal, emphasizing a thoughtful, incremental approach. Additionally, we are establishing the National Circularity Centre in the Bega Valley under the living building standards. This center will serve as an educational and conference hub, uniting the past, present, and future developments related to circularity, accelerating circular thinking, and paving the way for scalable projects in other regions. Reflecting on our journey, three years ago, we concluded our discussions in the room at the local council, known by the indigenous name "Merriwinga," meaning "Place To Dream" (see picture below). Little did we anticipate the impact and tangible progress that would come from the collective dreaming at that time. I am immensely proud to remain a member of the Circular Cooperative Board, continuing our steadfast support for this remarkable initiative.
