Jo Koy's hosting of the Golden Globe Awards was a masterclass in humility. Throughout the evening, he made the conscious effort to center the spotlight on the nominees and winners, rather than drawing attention to himself. His jokes were lighthearted and self-deprecating, avoiding any hint of arrogance or self-importance. This approach not only showcased his wit and humor but also emphasized the importance of humility in a role that could easily be dominated by an overpowering presence. In a world where success often leads to ego inflation, Jo Koy's hosting offered a refreshing reminder of the power of humility. He shared personal stories and experiences in an authentic and relatable manner, allowing the audience to connect with him on a human level. This genuine approach helped to create an atmosphere of inclusivity and mutual respect, which is essential for any successful host. Furthermore, Jo Koy demonstrated the value of humility in celebrating the achievements of others. He showed genuine excitement and admiration for the nominees and winners, making it clear that he was there to uplift and support their accomplishments. By stepping back and allowing the spotlight to shine on others, he not only elevated the evening's honorees but also set an example for the audience to follow. In a cultural landscape that often celebrates boastfulness and self-promotion, Jo Koy's hosting at the Golden Globe Awards served as a powerful reminder that humility can be a defining strength. His ability to entertain and engage without overshadowing the main event demonstrated the profound impact of humility in a high-profile hosting role. Ultimately, Jo Koy's performance as host reflected the timeless lesson that humility is not a sign of weakness, but rather a mark of true strength and character. It showed that by embracing humility, we invite others to shine, creating a more meaningful and impactful experience for everyone involved. #humility #passiton #standup #host #comedian #artist #foryou #standout #challengesandopportunities #evolve #innovate #inclusivity #asian #entertainment #philippines #american #globalcommunity #hollywood #filipinoamerican #equality #respect #connectivity #courage

Many of us wear a variety of hats in our business and do a variety of different things. Yet there is one action you do that is more important. That action is known as the Queen Bee Role. That role or action ensures you can deliver your solution (your big promise). This week I share a way to narrow that down in part 4 of the alignment series. The magician Teller, who today celebrates his 76th birthday, takes the notion of silent partner to an entirely new level. A few years ago I came upon a This American Life segment, “The Oldest Trick in the Book,” which detailed how Teller spent nearly a year (11 months to be exact) creating a new magic trick. He practiced entirely by himself, at home and in the darkened theater following Penn and Teller’s Las Vegas performances in the Rio hotel. Teller even videotaped himself doing the trick on vacation. All this before he reveals the trick to Penn. The segment host Ira Glass incredulously asks Teller how he could have possibly gone this long before bringing his partner of 40-plus years in the loop. Teller explains that, with magic, you need to get something perfect before you can evaluate whether it’s any good. Teller provides us all with a valuable professional lesson. Success or failure, as much as we grasp onto those terms, are relative. What matters is if and how an endeavor becomes comes part of us. So we don’t look at honing the craft as work but an almost never-ending quest. Something we do because we know no other way. #creativity #professionalism

“Take yourself out of it”. When I heard Emma Stone say this, she held my attention to what she would explain next. She described team better than I ever heard before and it truly highlights what I do as a team coach. Enjoy the read! Many leaders are on multiple teams - the leadership team they are on, the team they lead, and other teams across the organization. #leadershipteam #teamcoaching
In her heartfelt acceptance speech at the 2024 Oscars, Emma Stone shared an insightful message that resonates far beyond the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

🌟 Inspired by Matthew McConaughey's powerful Oscar speech on setting goals! 🌟 Recently, I stumbled upon Matthew McConaughey's unforgettable Oscar speech from 2014, hailed as one of the best. Intrigued, I had to watch it myself - and it truly lived up to its acclaim. McConaughey's speech touched on gratitude, family, and career, but what resonated most with me was his insight on setting goals. He spoke passionately about having someone to chase after, particularly himself in 10 years. His perspective on the perpetual pursuit of personal growth left a lasting impression. Often, we tend to set safe, easily achievable goals. It's comfortable knowing the path to success. However, McConaughey reminded us that true growth comes from aiming high, despite the uncertainties. It's about embracing the journey - the effort, the challenges, and the incremental progress. Setting ambitious goals isn't solely about reaching them entirely; it's about using them as guiding stars for our daily choices. They motivate us to cultivate new habits, forge resilient routines, and continually evolve into our best selves. If you haven't seen his speech yet, I highly recommend watching it. Let's start a conversation - share in the comments: Who inspires you to chase after a better version of yourself? 🚀

Building a 🌍 where LOVE > FEAR | Executive Leadership & Team Coach, Trauma-Informed | Making the implicit, explicit, the invisible, visible; supporting the 'parts' to whole through embodied awareness in practice.
She finished the sentence: “This love, King insisted, is not some sentimental weakness but somehow *the key to ultimate reality*.” True then. True today. And yet — how often do we talk about love and community in the boardroom? In the staff meeting? At the dinner table? And if we do talk about them, how do we BE about them? Especially when being about them creates friction with efficiency? What practices do we have in place to intentionally expand our individual and shared capacity for agape? I realized I didn’t want to work for anyone else when I couldn’t find anyplace else that had asking and practically exploring these questions about expanding our capacity for agape as their mission statement. So I made it my mission statement. The answers to how this looks will be different for each person and each organization. But it matters to ask the questions that are worth asking. There are so many ways to get rich and/or be more productive. But they don’t solve the problem of alienation. Purpose. Meaning. Fulfillment. They sure as shit don’t seem to be doing a great job helping us answer the great question: “How shall we live?” To be “willing to go to any length” is a mighty tall order. I frequently fall short. Sometimes I think it’d be easier to just chase the brass ring. Then again, it seems appropriate for “the key to ultimate reality” to come with a suitable challenge. What prize are you and your team playing for? How are you assessing whether you're winning?
