Most candidates are currently being hired for lower salaries than a year ago. Except for the top non-technical specialists. We looked at the average salaries for the first three months of 2024 compared to 2023, and the trend is generally down. This applies to developers and other technical roles like QA and DevOps, except for experienced non-technical specialists who are seeing a $500 increase if they have seven or more years of experience. Although less experienced non-technical specialists are hired more often.

We have seen how #AWS is changing development processes all around the world with its scalability, security and availability. But its impact on #testing and #QA #Automation is rarely talked about! As a QA automation Engineer, I've seen the transformative impact of AWS on QA processes, especially for large commercial and media clients. 👉#AWS services like #EC2 and #Lambda offer scalable compute resources, perfect for running extensive test suites without manual intervention. 👉Tools like #AWS Device Farm allow us to test applications on a wide range of devices, ensuring robust cross-platform compatibility. This level of automation and scalability means we can identify and resolve issues faster, maintaining high-quality standards even as project complexity grows. 👉For #media clients, who often deal with high traffic and demand seamless performance, AWS offers powerful monitoring and logging tools. Services like #CloudWatch and X-Ray provide real-time insights into system performance, helping us pinpoint issues quickly. This proactive approach ensures a smooth user experience, which is critical in the media industry. AWS's flexibility and vast service offerings streamline our QA workflows, enhancing efficiency and reliability. It's like having a supercharged toolkit that evolves with our needs, making it easier to deliver top-notch products consistently. Have you experienced similar benefits in your QA processes with AWS? #QA #AWS #Automation #QualityEngineering #Media #Commercial #Testing #TestingWithAWS

Is a reality
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗢𝗽𝘀: Recently, while hiring for Cloud and DevOps role, I noticed 70% of candidates had the same LinkedIn tagline: "𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 | 𝗔𝗪𝗦 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 | 𝗖𝗜/𝗖𝗗 | 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝘀 | 𝗞𝟴𝘀 | 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗢𝗽𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁" However, many struggled with basic Linux questions, difference between ALB vs NLB, and simple differences like ENTRYPOINT vs CMD. It’s clear that watching YouTube tutorials and adding them to your resume won’t cut it. You need to actually understand the basics, like chmod, ssh, and dig. Here are some solutions: 🔹 Specialise or Generalise: Pick a niche like GitOps/Kubernetes and master it, or learn a broad range of skills and be a knowledgeable generalist. 🔹 Be Realistic: Replace flashy taglines with something truthful and specific, like: "𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱/𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗢𝗽𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝗼𝗖𝗗 | 𝗔𝗪𝗦 | 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗢𝗽𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 | 𝟮𝘅 𝗔𝗪𝗦 | 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺" 🔹 Focus on Basics: Honesty is key. Overpromising and underdelivering will only lead to rejections. Follow Mohamed Abukar for the latest updates on tech, devops and software engineering! 🙏 #linkedin #reality #devops

Lets say, you are a recruiter and you are getting a requisition from your Hiring manager (if you work with a Corporate) or your TA POC (if you are with an Agency) for a Tech position you have never or hardly heard of. What is the process you follow here. The ideal response will be to do a thorough research on what the tech is about, clarify the doubts with the hiring manager or the TA POC and get on with the search or delegate it to the Agency partners. But, does everyone actually do that? Some of the most common roles in Tech space these days are Full stack developers, DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers, Front End Developers. Lets' take DevOps Engineer role for discussion. Most of the recruiters just type in CI/CD and Linux as the keywords to filter out DevOps Engineers or outright just type in Devops as the keyword. The sad part is most of them do not even go that extra mile to understand what CI/CD pipeline is or what the actual role of the DevOps Engineer is. CI/CD and Linux are just skills that get listed in other roles too. Just because their predecessors suggested them to carry out the search this way, they religiously hold on to it. This is quite the same with almost every other skills they recruit. A simple 5 min youtube video could have helped them understand the concept in a much better way. Being a Tech Recruiter doesn't mean that you have to know how to script or code. But it is important to understand what is what before you attempt to reach the target talents. How would you be in a position to screen a CV or evaluate someone if you do not even know what you are Recruiting for. How would you ask the right questions if you do not have an idea about the kind of role your candidate is going to perform. Let us not try to do anything fancy. Let us stick to the basics. Start by spending that 5 minutes to understand what is what. You will witness noticeable positive changes in the way you Recruit. Happy Recruiting!
