The Waste Hierarchy - a framework towards a more circular economy Please peruse, and feel free to take (make the document full screen and a download option should be in the top right), our document that goes into detail about the steps of the Waste Hierarchy below. The Waste Hierarchy is a guiding principle for managing waste in a sustainable way. It prioritises actions to reduce, reuse, recycle, and recover waste before considering disposal. By following this hierarchy, we aim to minimise environmental impact, conserve resources, and move towards a more circular economy. Let us know in the comments any other frameworks you use, like the waste hierarchy, that help drive us all towards the circular economy! ♻️Happy International Day of Zero Waste from MATTA!♻️ The goal of the International Day of Zero Waste is to encourage environmentally friendly production and consumption practices and to increase public understanding of how zero-waste initiatives advance the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. MATTA has been a certified Carbon Neutral agency since 2023 and has numerous sustainability practices in order to be responsible for our own consumption and resource disposal. Some tactics we implement are reusing as much as possible, encouraging sustainable practices on shoot and using a waste management company with a zero to landfill policy. 🗑In 2024 we joined Southwark Climate Collective, London’s initiative by Better Bankside. Now we are undertaking a waste audit to understand how to better reduce our office waste, and continue to up our recycling game. 🤓We regularly run Lunch & Learn educational seminars in the office, themed around sustainability. This helps us create awareness and behavioral changes, and spark creative ideas from our team how to reduce, reuse and recycle! 🏅In 2023, MATTA made an exciting leap towards sustainability by earning a Carbon Neutral certification, awarded by Positive Planet. We have committed again in 2024 to offset 110% of our business running emissions and have a carbon reduction plan in place. Mike Smith, is responsible in our team for our sustainability initiatives. We love his quote “Let’s make sure that everything we create, be it creative campaigns, or internal inclusion & sustainability initiatives, aligns to our vision of the future we want to live in.” 🌏 Let’s aim to make change by evaluating what we use, how it’s made, and how it’s discarded.💫 #sustainability #zerowaste #IDZW

What is a zero-waste city?🏙 In our modern world, prioritizing environmental sustainability, the idea of a Zero Waste City shines brightly as a symbol of hope and progress. Initiatives such as the Zero Waste Cities Certification, developed by the non-profit organization Zero Waste Europe, lead the way for towns and cities, guiding them toward a future of minimal waste and a circular economy. Purpose of the Zero Waste Cities Certification: 1. Empower European municipalities in their zero waste journey. 2. Help cities comply with EU and national regulations. 3. Encourage implementation of resource-efficient waste reduction systems. At BlueXPRT, we recognize the transformative power of such initiatives, which are aligned with our mission to bring innovations together and tackle global problems with sustainable solutions. An example is the X-Lives project, where Dutch and German companies collaborate to develop circular solutions in polymer, fiber, and mineral materials. These solutions are submitted for evaluation to receive the crucial funding they need to thrive. We're all about connecting visionary projects with the resources and expertise required to make them a reality. Together, we can create a future where sustainability, innovation, and zero waste thrive hand in hand! 🌏 With our global economy characterised by a "take-make-waste" industrial process, the strain on the planet's resources is intensifying. An alarming 90% of biodiversity loss and water stress is attributed to the extraction and processing of natural resources. 🚮 The World Bank projects that global waste generation could increase from 2.01 billion metric tons in 2016 to 3.40 billion metric tons by 2050. Currently, we generate waste 1.75 times faster than the Earth can sustainably provide. 🔄 By embracing waste prevention, reduction, recycling, and circular economy principles, waste management companies like Veolia can lead the way in minimising waste generation, maximising resource recovery and reducing global dependence on natural resources. 🔗 We have supported the development of guidance that outlines the priority actions businesses in the waste management sector should take to transform business practices and value chains and ensure the sector plays its part in contributing towards a nature positive future. Read it here: https://ow.ly/NqSN50QAbz5 🌱 The guidance was developed by Business for Nature with support from Accenture UK & Ireland as part of a broader collaboration with the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the World Economic Forum Watch the video below to find out more about the guidance for the waste management sector 👇 #NaturePositive #Biodiversity #EcologicalTransformation
