We appreciate the Resource Development Council for Alaska, Inc. for welcoming ARE students from Kusilvak Career Academy at their annual luncheon. Bringing students to events gives them the opportunity to learn more about our natural resource industries and associated careers available to them. Our ARE student interns Kelsey Smith and Cady Arima joined us as well, taking a break from the hard work they are doing in our office this summer.

50% of our Q1 interns graduated few months ago. The other 50% graduated several years back. None of them studied cyber security in college but they all have now fully joined the cyber army. Jamaal Raheem and Princess Ugwokaegbe here are in the latter group of interns who graduated many years ago. They both took a pay cut to join the program and I can say their career switch is well and truly on! Now they know how much that was worth it. Last week, while conducting the final interviews for our Q2 applicants, I came across two highly impressive individuals like Jamaal and Princess (i.e. those identifying as he/him & she/her) who were desperate to get picked. I decided against that idea 💡 because these individuals, with 10 or more years of experience under their belts in different fields, are easily in the top 3% of earners in the country. If you’re already making CISO level salaries in other fields, it just might not be the best idea to go all the way back to the base of the ladder in another field. As they say though, love is blind and a true passion that burns within your soul is one that can never be put out. I have committed to meeting these individuals (in person) in months to come to see how I can help translate their desire into outcome. Back to Jamaal Raheem and Princess Ugwokaegbe , I am glad to see their competence and confidence levels shoot through the roof several weeks into the program. For ones who didn’t study anything close to cyber security in college, these individuals, like their co-interns, have really impressed me. Oh! What am I even saying? I didn’t study anything close to cyber security in college either. In my days, when you heard the word, “cyber” you know they’re talking about Internet café. 😁 https://lnkd.in/gRtHT7Ui

5 engaged students + 6 weeks of summer = A Life Cycle Assessment project on ropes. It's not a simple topic, but I was amazed by the work that our summer interns achieved during such a short time. Now it’s on us to continue working on the full scope and to deliver meaningful outcomes. #shipping #ropes #maritime

Day 4 Finally, after days of waking up early for meditation and parade, there was time to rest. We had a half-day on Sunday to go to church, wash clothes, and rest. My body, accustomed to early mornings, woke me up, so I took the opportunity to quickly wash my clothes and bathe before going back to sleep. It was a day filled with rest; I ate and slept. Oh, I forgot to mention that I started exploring different food spots at the mami market. 😩 It's been a delicious journey, albeit accompanied by plenty of debit alerts. I discovered an excellent amala spot served with ewedu and gbegiri. The soft #amala and soup combination hit the spot just right. After hours of rest, the break was over. I had to double up (jog, not walk) to the parade ground for training. During training, people started fainting left and right. My aunt had warned me that things like that were bound to happen. I enjoyed the parade until my platoon was asked to lie on the grass due to noise-making. 😩 Can I change it? It almost felt like the troublemakers were singled out together. Competitions are coming up soon, and I hope my platoon wins, despite being told that Platoon 10 never does. Afterwards, we had an #NYSC movie night where a film about NYSC was shown. It ended at 9:50 pm, and we were asked to return to our rooms because it was almost time for lights out. Lights out starts at 10 pm; it's when all lights are turned off to ensure that corps members go to sleep early. My body is already adjusting to the new environment. I'm having fun amidst the stress. I wish CHI Limited lactose-free milk came in smaller packs so I could have bought some to take to camp without worrying it would spoil due to the lack of a #refrigerator. I'm still searching for a Industry to do my PPA NYSC internship in Lagos❣️ Did/do you enjoy parade training? Have fun! #Edecorper #storytelling #sunday #milk #qualityassurance #qualitycontrol #Sunday #Corpsmember

Meet Chloe, who started her career as a Modern Apprentice. “I first saw the job role of Modern Apprentice Social Work Assistant on the HSCP website.
