Earlier this month I AM MENtality Youth Male Empowerment Project invited me to be the MC for its 8th Anniversary Gala at the top of June. I’m in awe of the work that this non-profit organization is doing for young men in Baltimore!! Thank you so much Vanessa and DARREN ROGERS trusting me with being the Mistress of Ceremonies this year. May God continue to bless the work and May many funders continue to give to this worthy cause.

A few weeks ago I walked into city hall as the first chief storyteller in city history. This was all because of a historic investment in the City of Baltimore by Bloomberg Philanthropies to re-establish and expand Baltimore’s innovation team: https://lnkd.in/ewktKVHP Our goal (among others) as a brand new innovation team? To bring a new way of thinking, energy and experience to some of Baltimore’s biggest challenges like housing vacancy and public safety. Baltimore is a special place with beautiful people, I know CAO Faith P. Leach would agree. To me, it is a place that I know will continue to present needs that differ from any other city, needs I deeply care about approaching with humanity and patience and creativity as someone who is a product of Baltimore like Mayor Brandon M. Scott. One of our first stop as a newly formed team, led by Terrance Smith was to Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University where we added to our combined decades and decades of experience as a team with a training inspired by 57 cities across eight countries whose local governments have already embraced similar innovation practices, and approaches. I’ve been directing and producing a series of shorts so that no one in Baltimore or anywhere else for that matter ever has to wonder what public innovation looks like in action.

Meet me at the Pennsylvania Avenue Black Arts and Entertainment District, Inc Artist Fair on June 18th! It’s being hosted at New Song Community Learning Center (1530 Presstman St, Baltimore, MD 21217) from 6:00p to 8:30p I’ll be getting artists and entrepreneurs hip to what makes an effective press release FOR FREE. It’s not something I’d miss — share with your friends who are always saying they aren’t getting noticed by media or with friends who are doing cool things and need to be amplifying that.
