Constructed primarily from disposed tires and encased in mud plaster and unstabilized sand, the construction is meant to symbolize the difficulties in suitable building materials in arid climates. The 1,425 tires used in its construction, are emblematic of the number of tires disposed of every single day. The tires are all reclaimed from local waste facilities in Sharjah, and the sand is sourced from the surrounding area as well. Tires and sand were not solely chosen as a way to reduce waste however, they were chosen, because they provide thermal insulation.
