Managing Director in SA OPERATIONS | SA EXECUTIVE | Finding talents for energy and subsea excellence
It is encouraging to learn that the European Commission (EC) has chosen a number of European hydrogen initiatives to receive funding from the EU Innovation Fund! Given that 88% of Europeans stated they wanted more renewable energy projects because they were concerned about climate change, it is not unexpected that this is a time. The level of inventiveness, functioning, monetary, technological expertise, scalability, and cost-effectiveness were the five main criteria that the EC used to evaluate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to traditional methods. This is another accomplished milestone towards "Mission 2030" and demonstrates how well Europe is progressing in the renewable energy industry. A number of initiatives involving hydrogen have received funding, including the GreenH2Atlantic project in Sines, Portugal, the H2Maasvlakte project in the Port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, the EnergHys project in the Netherlands, and many others. #progresstoexcellence #europeanunion #europeancommission #funds #renewableenergy #energytransition #cleanenergy #climatechangesolutions #hydrogenenergy

Looking forward to our discussions on how the green energy transition can succeed without harming regional cohesion in Europe during #SOE2024 session organised by European University Institute with Bertelsmann Stiftung Please join us if you are interested to learn more #NZIA #SETPlan #cleanenergy #cohesionpolicy #competitiveness #greentransition #justtransition
We all know that the #EU must strengthen the #SingleMarket, but how can this be done? The strength & legitimacy of the single market comes from lifting up all regions--leaving none behind. A Bertelsmann Stiftung study, Energising EU Cohesion, shows how many less developed regions can economically benefit from expanding renewable energy in the future. We'll draw on this study for a discussion on how to make this renewable energy transition happen without leaving regions behind at our event on May 23rd at the State of the Union Conference in Florence #SOU2024. Joining the discussion are Anna Sobczak PhD, Catherine Fieschi, & Thomas Schwab Moderated by Paul Adamson Details here: https://lnkd.in/drtTQbt The conference will also be livestreamed.

Europe could be entirely powered by green energy by 2030 - but it won’t be cheap 💶 A new report led by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research estimates that it will cost roughly 2 trillion euros to convert the entire European energy system to fully renewable sources like solar power. It’s a massive amount of money, but the International Monetary Fund thinks private investors could cover a good chunk of this cost. Read more about how Europe could be the first climate-neutral continent, with a little investment 👉 https://lnkd.in/emchdekE #solarenergy #solarinverters #solarsystem #solarpowered #solarforeverybody #renewableenergy #solarsolution #Solplanet #Europe #greenenergy

💡 Did you know that 60% of Europe’s energy is imported? Partly inevitable due to less natural resources and less space for solar/wind/water than in other countries... but partly also because we cannot store enough energy. Energy storage is the solution, bolstering the EU's resilience by reducing reliance on energy imports and facilitating the deployment of renewable energy sources. Moreover, fair grid fees and charges, along with the elimination of double taxation for energy storage, are imperative. We must advocate for regulatory changes in member states to remove persistent barriers and ensure ambitious National Energy and Climate Plans, aligning with the EU’s recommendations on storage. 🔋 In this dynamic landscape, sustainable energy storage emerges as a key player for progress. It not only enhances energy resilience but also unleashes the potential of renewables. Technologies like #PumpedStorage are the key ... and even look good as you see below. As we embark on this journey, we're proud to collaborate with EASE - The European Association for Storage of Energy. Their recent manifesto https://lnkd.in/ezrgE2cB, in which the facts from above were published, sheds light on these critical issues and repeats our mission to accelerate the adoption of energy storage solutions across Europe.

🔆 PERU: A PRIME DESTINATION FOR PUMPED STORAGE HYDROELECTRICITY 🔆 Peru is a topographically and infrastructurally ideal for Pumped Storage Hydroelectricity (PSH). Peru’s National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) offers a unique advantage, allowing electric energy to be injected at any point in the system. This flexibility ensures that renewable energy plants and PSH facilities can be optimally located, facilitating the perfect pairing of solar/wind plants with strategically placed PSH facilities. What sets Peru apart even further is that PSH requires no regulatory changes for market entry. The existing regulations for hydroelectric plants are fully applicable to PSH. Drawing from the German TRIANEL Group's experience and methodology, LSH conducted a comprehensive study to identify optimal locations for PSH across Peru, from the northern to the southern Pacific side of the Andes. A key focus of the study was to preemptively address any potential socio-environmental conflicts, ensuring a harmonious integration of PSH projects within the local context, proximity to transmission lines, access roads, and environmental considerations. The final outcome was a promising portfolio of 72 optimal locations for PSH construction along the Pacific side of the Peruvian Andes, with a total potential of 5,500 MW. This capacity could support the installation of 20,000 MW of solar/wind energy, meeting the peak demand of 7 hours/day. Five of these 72 locations have already progressed to the pre-feasibility study level. Peru's unique landscape and robust infrastructure make it an ideal candidate for developing PSH. This would offer a sustainable solution to the country's growing energy demands while contributing to global renewable energy goals.
