Register your interest, AND let me know when you're available. I'll schedule the next intake for the most popular days and times. https://lnkd.in/eUgEE7xf Course overview: Session 1: Structured Chaos We'll look at how to build a loose structure to our creative practice that will help motivate us to create, and how to deal with the anxieties of task initiation Session 2: Chasing the Hyperfocus We'll focus on how to stay engaged in our practice over time, by dissecting shame and industrial notions of time. Session 3: Deconstructing the Arc We'll break down all the ways we've been told we should write, and find new ways to structure our stories that better reflect our personal experience with time and causality Session 4: Fact as Fiction We'll look at how elements of horror, fantasy and sci-fi can help us explore and illustrate our actual lived realities as ND people. How can we, as writers, craft vivid sensory-rich scenes that authentically convey our subjects' experiences? The first step is understanding how our own sensory biases might be getting in our way, something I explore in my latest Substack post exploring this and other aspects of writing craft. It's free--please share with anyone you think might be interested! https://lnkd.in/ew_KJNEt

Weekend Writing Recharge: My Secret Weapon (It's Not Coffee!) Fellow wordsmiths, ever hit that Friday afternoon slump where even the strongest cup of coffee can't jumpstart your creativity? This weekend, ditch the caffeine ☕️and grab a pen ✍️ instead! Journaling has become my secret weapon for refocusing and reigniting my writing fire. Here's why it works💆♂️: - Clear the Decks: Free writing helps declutter my mind of lingering thoughts and anxieties, making space for focused writing sessions later. ➡️ - Idea Goldmine: Random thoughts, observations, or overheard snippets all get jotted down. You never know what hidden gem you might unearth! - Plan & Conquer: Journaling helps me brainstorm project ideas, set realistic goals for the coming week, and identify potential roadblocks. Even 15 minutes can make a big difference. Let me know in the comments if you've tried journaling, and what impact it's had on your writing process! Happy Weekend 🌟 #writerslife #amwriting #creativity #writing #productivity #journaling

Developmental editor of children's books at Writer and the Wolf, working directly with middle grade & YA authors. Let’s get your book ready to unleash on the world! 🐺
A synopsis is usually a one-page, single-spaced document required by agents or publishing-house editors when submitting your fiction novel. Writing a synopsis is difficult for many fiction writers because it’s a technical piece of writing rather than creative. In this three-hour live webinar, Elizabeth will break down the synopsis in simple terms, and get you well on your way to a first draft by the end of the webinar. This webinar will be interactive with study examples and plenty of time for questions and answers.

📚 Have you ever wondered why (academic) writing feels so hard sometimes? I've been working on a new journal article and even though the research is super interesting and my co-authors are awesome, there's still that 'urgh' factor that creeps in when I think about sitting down to write. 😔 I've realised I need a more gentle (academic) writing practice. I want change the way I (and we) approach this craft, lean into our own writing rhythms, and enjoy the process instead of dreading it. Curious about where these thoughts have taken me so far? I've put together a series of reflections and thinking/journaling/musing prompts exclusively for my newsletter subscribers. Sign up on the website to get your hands on a copy. 💌 I'm committed to (re)discovering the joy and play and magic of our writing. You too? 📝✨ 🔗 Full blog via the link in my bio! #academicwriting #writingtips #studentlife #dissertationtips

I am finally really getting into a new paper that has to be written, and I am reminding myself of what I wrote in this blogpost a few years ago: https://lnkd.in/erZRf8pE - how to make your peace with "good enough" #academicwriting, and how to manage your inner #perfectionist when you are working on a piece of writing for #publication. #writingadvice #academicwriting

I decided to charge for my mighty networks group: The Un-Settling Books Writers Community. As a writing coach, I've found that those of us who aren't full-time journalists or novelists or memoirists but who are instead fitting our writing in around the rest of our lives need some skin in the game to stay focused and on track. But I also charge very little at the basic membership level: $35 a month. That's because the act of writing is a surprising enough journey on its own. I wanted to make dipping a toe into the water of community, connection, promotional collaboration, and peer as well as editorial feedback gentle and welcoming. When you join my Writers Community, you are immediately connected to our Discussion forum, where we dish, commiserate, celebrate, troubleshoot, and give each other constructive feedback. You also get access to our Resource Library, a curated collection of articles, essays, and tutorials about writing, marketing, promotion, and publishing. Your options build from there, depending on what kind of book you're writing, how much support you want or need, and your skill level. Add Weekly Zoom Calls featuring deeper dives into specific topics as well as guest speakers and interviews with published authors and other industry professionals. You can also add two weekly Writing Together sessions for extra accountability: we meet on Zoom, we mute, and we write on camera. Need to brush up on your skills? Try a twice-a-month Writing Mastery class, or a four-week Writing Boot Camp. If you thrive in a small group, we have four-month Writers Circles enrolling for non-fiction, fiction, and memoir to take you from idea to a finished first draft with a thorough developmental edit. Alternatively, you can choose to work with me 1:1 by the single session, in session packages, or as part of a writing coaching and editing program. You can also hire me just for editorial. Every manuscript, no matter how well-written, needs developmental editing, copy(line) editing, and proofreading. This is a lot of information, and only some of you will make it this far. If you're one of them, you will probably find the Community an excellent source of support as you plan, plot, and write your book. Join us. Your first week is free so you can see if it's a good fit. https://lnkd.in/dzyMc7AH

As I near the end of the sixth sold-out intake(!) of Writing While Neurodivergent in as many months, I am honestly floored by the overwhelmingly positive response I have had from all of the course attendees. 😯 When I first decided to run this course - to share everything I'd learned about how to work with my neurodivergence (AuDHD) instead of against it - I had no idea if anyone would be interested, or if they'd get any benefit from what I had to share. 🤷♂️ But now, over 60 people have attended(!) and their responses to the course have been genuinely humbling. Hearing how much of an impact the course has had on these writers is what makes this work so fulfilling, but I also want to thank each of them for enriching the course by sharing their experiences and ND knowledge. 🧡 If you think this course might be for you (no diagnosis or writing experience necessary; neurocurious writers welcome), check out the details at https://lnkd.in/ewyY4fW8 🧠 Next intake starts in just THREE WEEKS! ⏰ Register your interest by joining my mailing list and receive a 10% discount code!: https://lnkd.in/eezfzNt8 🤑 #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #neurocurious #writingpractice #creativewriting #courses #remotelearning #writers #shortcourses
