Communications 101 #123 Your Value as a Communications Professional In many quarters, the value communications professionals bring to the table is still being debated with quite a few top management staff of the opinion that the value of comms is abstract, at best. For some organisations (that go on to learn the hard way), PR is only appreciated during a crisis. Corporates that fall into this category soon realize that consistent communication that focuses on helping them achieve their organisational objectives is as important as any other function within the company. Nonetheless, it behoves the communications executive himself to be able to capture the dimension of the value of his services in the following ways: Operations Management & Support: Every day, the comms professional articulates the thought direction of the company internally (to employees) and externally (to customers, consumers, investors, and other key stakeholders) through various forms of content. Reputation & Trust Building: Aside from crafting compelling communication to enhance the image of the organisation. The key officers who represent the face of the corporation also benefit from clear, concise, and deliberate messaging.
